Just finished this kit. It's far more detailed than another 105 I did years and years back. I like how you did the tires. I can't detail worth a heck.

Thanks for your kind comments, GlennH. AFV Club's 105mm is such a complex kit with over a hundred parts - many times the older kits such as Max's. This thread is 2.5 years old, how did you find it? First I thought it was my latest thread posted earlier this week which also started with M2A1.

I was searching Google for finished works of this model plus they had some parts included that were clearly not for this kit. I was wondering what I was missing and actually found a couple parts steps they left out on the instructions.

I was on that one in AIT and about a week in RVN. Obviously my memory of it not too good. I think it was very close to 260 parts!

I like how you did the tires. I can't detail worth a heck.

Don't worry, he can't either.  MM doesn't build these.  He pay/trades/something others to build them and then comes here to show off his acquisitions, expecting everyone to tell him how great they are.

Well the good news for me is that towed arty does not really have to be weathered much IF you are truly going for realism. Maybe that's why it's not quite as fun or sexy to build to many compared to SP or armor. On my brief stint on a 105 in RVN (1/5) and later the 155 I know for fact the guys took great pride in how the piece looked. Part of it is from competition between sections and boredom. Not all that different than guys detailing their cars or the fire dept and their trucks. That beautiful build on a 155 in this forum is based on a picture I took when I was with 2/11.

The last couple months I hauled ammo to 2/11 batteries up north. That 5 ton was my baby!

So that's my excuse for not detailing this same build I did ,not that I really could have anyway. All that said I really do envy and admire the skills I see here and on some of those prebuilts I do see for sale. This was my first build in years and things have come so far out of the box!
