As you might remember, I mentioned in a previous post that my son (age 10) and I were going to the show in Richmond, VA this past weekend. For a local show, it was really big. Talking to some of the club members, they weren't expecting the show to be as big as it was. There were over 500 kits on the tables!
Well, my son took FIRST PLACE (!)
with his Fieseler V-1 (1/48 Tamiya), in the Junior-age 13 and under category. He competed with 30 other kits in that category and came out on top! He is so excited! He even took his model to school today. Phyically, he did very well. We think the Mono is starting to get better. The head armor judge allowed him to accompany me as we judged. He loved it, and learned a lot in the process.
I took a second place and an out-of-the box award in the artillery category for an ICM Soviet BS-3 100mm field gun.
My Italeri Puma did nothing. I'm not complaining, but the first place in that category had some unresolved seams and a couple other problems. Mine was disqualified due to some "over-emphatic dry brushing". Go figure...
My big catch of the day was in the vendors' area.
I walked off with the Trumpeter 1/35 Leopold for $60. (No, that's not a misprint.)
I was also able to get the AFV Club LEfh 18M, and Pak 41/43 field guns for $25 each.
If I ever get the pics developed, I'll try to post 'em. Thanks again to everyone for their encouragement, and prayers for my son's health.
