Back with some more work on the M53. Worked on the tracks. Using Friul T84E1 tracks, 90 links per side 2 pins for each link. Here they are in some major sub assemblies
The rubber section of the track is painted with Mig Ammo rubber tire paint and metal parts are coated with AK Track Wash. I created a custom set of decals for the Fleet Marine artillery circa in Viet Nam. I finished up the last major assembly, the recoil spade. After painting with the darker mix for VN, 50/50 mix of OD and Russian Green. Then a bit of dry brushing with Vallejo Steel on the edges and cleats. Lastly I weathered the track area with some heavy mud using Elmer’s Cherry furniture putty. It works well with water and is a great color match for Viet Nam soil. That’s it for now; next I need to mount the road wheels and tracks. Also need to get the base started. As always if you have any comments, please feel free to drop in. Rounds Complete!!

Shes coming along great! And love the detail painting on the treads, I did that years ago and gave up and just slather mud and dirt all over the steel links and rubber pads.

Looking great, Mike! I'd put a little bit of rust into that spade though. Bare metal would rust overnight, wouldn't it? Stick some "dirt" in there too!
