Lol Toshi! Yeah, there's a bad movie site I post to as well and I started using Gamera as a handle over there. Yup, giant Japanese turtle! Couldn't think of a better name so I just went and used it here too, I've actually started using it on several forums.

I have to say that I believe that the process of assembling this model will probably be excellent therapy for your injury. Lots of parts and steps to "recognize" and follow. I should help to train your brain back to normalcy.

I don't know anything about TBI or how it effects your daily life, but my youngest son is Autistic. Not even nearly the same thing, I know, but I do understand how your life changes, at least a little.

If you need or want o know what anything is, just ask. We can tell you what things are and how they work and why they are there. I find it easier to model something when I know what its function and purpose are.

Keep up the momentum, my friend. You really will enjoy this. I promise you that lol.

Yes, I will always continue to ask questions when I need answers.  Keep the critiques coming, I really learn from that good or bad.  Thank you so much my friend!  You've been there since my very first build, 6 months ago.  It was a Revell 1:48 P-61 Black Widow.  I remember buying every PE and resin aftermarket item for that build and made a mess with it.  I followed your examples and after AB it twice, It all came together.  Almost!  LOL!

There are different things I do with them to get their fine and gross motor skills going or just to get them going at all.

Modeling is deffinintely a great thing as it requires sustained concentration, memory, coordination etc. I wish I could do it with my patients, I just don't have time for it with them. Way to go hombre, keep it up, we are with you .

Whats so weird is I can remember everything in detail down to the date and time before my accident.  Now is a different story.  Anyway thank you so much for your support and thank you for the read and reply.

I do recall the first one. I had no idea about Gamera and i used to think it was Godzilla in the pic. Then i think someone asked you a while back and thats when i realised.

Here's a few more photos in regards to the M1A1.  My difficulty is that I'm so ignorant of the workings of a tank, I have no idea as to where what goes nor why.  I am having fun?  Hell yah, as I've been told time and time again, this is a key component to building Models.  

So far, it's very tedious and interesting as I never would have thought on simple every day use of items like smoke grenades.  Now I know.  I'm sorry that my build is slow.  I'm usually burning a path in 3 to 5 days in building an aircraft, with the tank it's new for me.   Also as a note, today is Sunday Football Day!  I'm a huge fan of all 32 teams in every division.  Now you know what I do on Sunday's, Monday night and Thursday night.  LOL!  Please view the progress below.

If there is anything you are not sure about on the parts of the tank, just ask. As well as plenty of armour builders there's also plenty of guys here who have worked on or around the real thing.

 

I've even seen the variants, one can busy themselves a very long time just with the many variants of this marvelous Titan.  Some things I learned, turbine engines, 40 to 50 miles an hour, etc.  Wow!  Once again, thank you and fellow forum members.

Just a quick note. The smoke grenade launchers should angle forwards, towards the front of the tank. As they are, they're pointing backwards.

If you're doing a USMC tank, these launchers (8 shot) are appropriate, but if you're doing an Army tank, the 6 shot launcher should be used. This is one of the primary distinguishing features between the tanks used by the resepective services.

Really, she's coming along great. As the guys said it's good therapy as long as you dont' lose your temper and throw the kit at the wall!

LOL!!  I can't stop laughing about the mortal part!  LOL!!  Thank you Bish!  I will ask for answers, when I model, I gain fine motor skills, cognition, and I notice that while building the kit, I must reference certain parts via the Internet.  I learn so much just by building as an example this tank.  I had no idea that it had "Smoke Grenades".  I'm sure there must be other hidden tactical items the M1A1 carries.

Most of not all modern armour has these smoke grenade launchers. As Phil has said, they should be pointing forward. They are intended to be fired ahead of the vehiucle as it advances towards the objective. Not sure if other tanks have this feature, but the British Challenger tank can inject fuel onto the warm exhausts which creates a huge white cloud that it reverses through. These modern tanks are packed full of goodies you would not believe.

I was reading the other posts about your injury. Its relaly nice to hear that this is helping. And not only do you get to build some great models, you get to hang out with us lot.

Building the M1A1 was somewhat new to me as I don't understand the nomenclature of tanks.  Thanks to you and forum members, I asked questions and did my research dutifully.  I have some photos below of my current progress.
