A muzzle brake is the bell shaped device on the end of the gun, some have one baffle some have many. They are designed to slow down gun recoil. An episcope as I understand it is a bullet resistant periscope that can be turned in it's mount.

Hey Spamicus!
Then the muzzle brake does not affect the speed of the shell as it leaves the barrel. Only reducing the gun recoil force then?

Correct. Muzzle brake uses the gasses behind the projo to provide a forward push to the tube to help reduce recoil. About the only things that will effect muzzle velocity is the length of the barrel (the shorter the barrel, the lower the muzzle velocity) and the powder used (both type and amount)
