Tacky Tracks! HELP!!
Posted by wipw on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 12:50 PM
Well, it finally happened to me. I painted my Dragon 1/72 Jagdpanther vinyl tracks with Testor's Flat Black from a rattle can. After 5 days, they are still tacky. I've seen other members out here mention this happening to them. What's the best solution to going on? I've been considering brushing on some rust colored pastels to see if that will dry them out. Any ideas, anyone?

Yes I could use some advise from the jedi tooo (hehehehe) For I painted the alice packs and other misc. that came with the dragon m1A2 with model masters OD and they are sticky sticky sticky. Though I used taimya khaiki and it is not as bad but still alittle tacky, also tried praying a laquar coat and no results. Help us Obi one.

I've had that happen once. I sprinkled (liberally) black pastel dust, but the result was just ugly. I say just use the testors rattle can primer right over the paint. I prime mine now, and haven't had the problem ever since.

Bill, I have had paint stay tacky and never dry. I stripped it off but maybe an over coat of flat base or something may seal it in. Try an inconspicuos place first and see how you go.

Tanks, guys!!

It's only an $8 kit, after all. Nothing to loose sleep over. Maybe I'll try a bunch of different stuff and if the tracks go away, there's more where they came from!!
