The Darkside (Armor Forum) T-shirt
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, April 5, 2004 7:27 PM
I give you all an idea. You all run with it and take it wherever it goes. It is ok if this idea goes nowhere, but with the assembled talent on this 'armor forum' I doubt it!Big Smile [:D]

How about a 'Darkside' Armor Forum Tee-shirt? I'd be willing to pay up to $20 for a sturdy, well built t-shirt with a 'Darkside/Armor' logo on the front and back! How about it? Maybe all that's on the front is "Finescale Modeler Presents: The Armor Forum". On the back in large letters you could have "The Darkside" in bold letters with a large picture of an AFV below the words.

Now would there be a problem with using the brand name of 'Finescale Modeler'?Disapprove [V] If so maybe then maybe the thing to do would be to leave it off. Although I think it would be cool to have their name mentioned somewhere on the T-shirt. But again that's just my idea, and maybe there's a legal issue there.Clown [:o)] Also, if an AFV was depicted...which one? Group vote? I vote for a Tiger or a PantherSmile [:)]. But again that's just one man's idea. What's yours?Question [?]

Does anyone have the talent to try this?Question [?] Anyone know of any company that would be willing to make the t-shirts?Question [?] How much?Question [?] How many?Question [?] Would shipping to some places make it too expensive?

Maybe this idea has come up before and promptly been KIA'd!Dead [xx(] I don't know! More importantly, what do you all think about it?Question [?]

Again, I've provided the idea! Any takers?????

One of our own forum members has the talent, and the company. I know the how much would depend on how many people would buy them. It would run pretty high for him to do a limited run but if enough people paid up front who knows? He might be willing to give it a shot. I won't mention his name since I know he's pretty busy right now and may not be able to try it, but if he see's this and wants to, I know he'll speak up.

I'm in for at least one or 2 as long as there's some German armor on it! Big Smile [:D] Wink [;)] The artwork could include a few different AFV's with German, US, Russian, British maybe. Of course that's a lot of work for him also. I'll shut up now before I get in trouble! Black Eye [B)]

Edit: I see Robert let the cat out of the bag as I was posting. Ok Mike, let us know!

That would be cool but having a design that incorporates all the kind of tanks thay anybody would want to have on the shirt could be a little tricky, though.

So avoid the individual vehicle .... go with tracks or something along that line.

Well I would deffinatly get one or two but as far as what to put on it,, How about the wingy thingy prop under the track Logo????? That seems to be popular here in the Armor forums and I would imagine it wouldn't be that hard to copy. Just my Two cents

I like the idea of generic tank tracks! Although a 60th Anniversary D-Day theme certainly has merit! How about a Panther facing a Sherman? Or should that be a Panzer IV? Great discussion so far!

WOW, I HAVE A GUY I CAN GET T-SHIRTS FROM. I do all the t-shirts for our rugby team through a local guy. He has a pretty good rate and will try to work with me as best as he can. BUT, we need to keep the colors to a minimum, like one, and it would be cheapest if it only was printed on one side. having said that, i want it to look good, so I would not mind a two sided print. As soon as I find out how many colors, and if it will be a one, or two sides on the T-shirt, I can get us a price.

As far as what goes on the T-shirt, well, I personally want to see a tank somewhere. I don’t care what tank. How about a list of 2004 names for the forum? how about a "you know you have built too many model tanks when..." list? just throwing out ideas here....

I was thinking of a Tiger facing a Sherman, arguably two of the most popular tanks in the forum. Perhaps an M1 Abrams inside a flag or something to show support for the troops in Iraq.

Always use another t-shirt. Be a good way for members to find each other at shows and stuff too.

Hmmm I don't think I will find alot of members here in Denmark, but it would be cool to have one so I can brag at the shows here in DK.

I'd like one, provided it was done interestingly. A tiger facing off against a sherman would be cool, but I'd want 'toony' graphics, just to give it some splash. If it had logos of FSM or anything like that, I'd probably end up not wanting one. I'm not a 'brand-label' kidn of person. A small fsm logo on the back of the collar would be cool though, with the words "darkside" printed on the back, and the two tanks facing off on the front.

You could take one tank out of each country say like panther , sherman, churchhill , leapordA5, M1 , challanger2, thus reprsenting WW2 and present in a semi circle in front or back with a new threadhead logo on front that would represent.plus under the tanks you could have " welcome to the darkside" this would kinda give everyone some kind of tank they like, plus maybe if ya fell froggy put in there somewhere about how we crush wingy thingys .hehe

Hey guys,

Just saw this and the grey matter machinery is grinding. I have an idea that might work to make everyone happy. Busy right now, but I'll get back to you guys with some ideas and pricing info.

For those of you that don't know. I'm a screenprinter. If you want to see some of my stuff, go to www.kingskeep.com and click on the t-shirts

Now comes the killer........
Shipping to guys like Michaelvk, J-Hulk, Dwight is a logistical nightmare. It's tough enough getting the posties to get stuff to Robert (via Portland) I shutter to think about my brethern in the Netherlands, Japan and the Phillipines. yikes.

Its my only reservation.

If anyone has any ideas I'm open.

Mike

Sounds cool to me. Count me in as long as prices can be held to < $20.
Shoot, for twenty bucks you should also be able to choose between a t-shirt or a polo/golf type shirt (3 button knit front) with an embroidered design.....

Sounds good to me. However, as cool as it would be to have a plethora of tanks on the shirt, I think it should be kept to a simpler theme. One or two tanks tops. Maybe a Firefly, which could represent both Brit and American for the Allies and a Tiger or Panther for the Axis. It should definately say something about the "darkside", too. It sounds like Mike has some ideas. He's the expert.

Fun idea!!
