German Armor fans....

Just received 'PanzerTruppen' 33-42. Incredible. Covers all operations during those years with Tactics, battle reports, order of battle as well as individual units and numbers. All equipment and variations down to the smallest detail, including radio equipment and ranges andwhen it was used.
This book ends in 42, so no Tigers.Disapprove [V] But he does have the second, 43-45 which I think I must now order.
Thomas Jentz never ceases to amaze me with his research...

Where did you find it, and what was the cost?

The second version, 43-45 you can get on Amazon, $49. If you search for Jentz and get the Tiger Tanks (truly amazing) or Combat Tactics (still waiting) you'll see the link for used and new that sends you to other dealers. I got the first and Tiger T from a place in Florida who is usually the lowest price on that link. $41 both times. Beware, he is kind of slow and laid back, both shipments were really late, but he responds well to inquiries and even was willing to substitute a more expensive book for no additional cost.
His website is www.collectorsbooks.com but it seems cheaper to order from him through Amazon (both in price and shipping).

The two books by Jentz on the Tiger I & II is the best seen from a modellers point of wiew but the book about 503's combat history is the most interresting.
This rating is my personal rating and hope you will find it useful.

Im getting a new book at the end of the week, I'll do a litle rating of that when I finish it.
ausf- the 503 is great but also very expensive I paid 211 $ for it. But to me it was worth every penny. Big Smile [:D]

So far I've been unsuccessful in tracking it down...$211 is alittle steep for me although I am sure it's worth it. The next over $50 book I was planning to get is 'Grenadier' which is currently around the $90 range. With two young boys and all the subsequent expensives I find the justification for expensive books hard to come by. Our local libraries are great in that you can order online from all over the state, but most the above mentioned books can't be found there.

Go to this site http://www.jjfpub.mb.ca/unit_histories.htm and scroll down I see its curently priced at 80 $ so its much cheaper now than when I bought it. I think you will find alot of interresting books at this site.

That's the truth...Even Meyer's Grenadier is $42, the least I've seen it was $90. I couldn't hit the button fast enough but they don't let you buy from the out of print page, even though there's pricing. I emailed them but haven't received a response yet. The description say it's a long awaited reprint (their telling me!) so I would think it's available.

Let me know when you hear from them! I haven't bought anything from the site. The books I have I've bought in a book shop here in DK ( Thats why its so expensive ) but I was thinking about buying the next book from their site, so I would be interrested in knowing if there is any problems.

Will do, they already answered my inquiry about Grenadiers, no go...but I'll be ordering real soon so I'll certainly let you know.
When you get a chance, wave to my family, they're to your immediate East.

OK
Well I'll post my rewiew of my new Tiger book in this topic. So it may pop up in the top of the list sometime within the next 5-10 days. Or maybe even sooner depends on how good the book is.

Cool,
I'll try out that website by ordering 7,000 km in a sturm....seems interesting.
Jentz 'Combat Tactics' should be in my hands this weekend and I don't think I can hold back from ordering 'PanzerTruppen 43-45' so I'll review as well.
Is the $25 to western Europe high or average a shipping cost?

Pounds! aauch that gotta hurt. So that means a 80$ book costs 80£ + shipping, wow.
Hmm 25$ is a high shipping cost, but the 503 book still costs 200$ here in DK so 80$+25$ is still cheaper.

If you guys want to check out what post prices from NYC would be to you, I'm sure we could work out a way for me to get them, then overseas. As long as this doesn't violate any international trade agreements or Forum rules.Wink [;)]

Hey that sounds like a good idea, and if it violates any Forum rules we can allways mail eachother. Im in! altough I don't when I'll be getting my next book. I don't think it violates any international trade agreements, I mean how can it.
I don't know where to find out how much it will cost but I'll ask around.
