CYBER HOBBY (ORANGE BOX) SA-9 GASKIN)
Posted by waynec on Saturday, October 26, 2019 10:20 PM

Between school (teaching, developing new classes and taking) and learning Russian i have not been building much. i decided to start with the SA-9 as i thought it would be fast and it is in my latest genre (Russian ADA). unfortunately there are no missile canister sprues pictured in the instructions or in the box. i sent a report to Cyber-Hobby and will let you know there response.

Has anyone else had this issue with this kit?

Worse case i either steal the turret from an old built BRDM-2. The SA-9 does not use the smaller wheels but they are in the kit so that is not an issuer Or build an SA-9 empty. Or i could put the weapons station from a STRYKER IFV on it.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Same here, it's good to see you again Wayne!

So they left the missile parts out of the box? Just empty tubes for the launchers?

Hi.

I don't remember right now. Mine had everything. I bought it years ago. I think it was Heller? T.B.

Thanks Gamera and MC. The missiles are in box canisters like the Patriot system only smaller. there are 4 on the launcher and a spare onn each side.

Winter class is not a lot of prep for my part and am not teaching in the spring. Fall may be a joint History of Finland class and i am hoping for lots of bench time. took 15 awards including Best of the Rest and Best of Automotive (Holt 75 tractor in civilian colors) in 3 contests and need new stuff to compete next year.

I did hear from CyberHobby and they are contacting Dragon, I presume . Picked up a DML SA-9 (same kit) at 40% off. After I ordered it, my friend saw one at the LHS in the estate sale which, with our 15% IPMD discount, was under $20. Now I have 2 plus the partially built one which may have scratchbuilt missiles or i may use the hull for something else weird.

You can always convert the hull to one of the flat top variants w/o any turret. I think it is the BRDM-2U command variant, if my memory is correct. Some evergreen sheet plastic should take care of any new work needed.
