M123A1C is a winner!!
Posted by HeavyArty on Monday, April 19, 2004 12:31 AM
Thanks to all who helped me along the way with my M123A1C Tractor w/M15A1 Trailer build. I took it to TamiyaCon here in Southern California today and walked away with a Director's Choice Award and a trip to Tamiya HQ, Japan. I was dumbfounded and still haven't gotten over it yet. Here is the completed model at the show.
Me and my girls accepting Director's Choice Award from M. Tamiya.
And finally, the whole family beaming with pride.

Again, much thanks to all that helped along the way. I am looking forward to the trip to Japan and will report back on return.

P.S.-- I also took a first place with my PBR Mk II done up as PBR Steetgang from Apocalypse Now.

A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

Thanks all. I am still not over the shock of winning this great prize. I definitely will give an update once back from Japan, hopefully with photos from Tamiya factory.

Watch out now for Japan (no offense to any one) They have some pretty weird holidays. When me my pop, and my brother where in Japan this summer, we were taking a train ride which happened to go through Shizouka, Tamiya HQ. I told my dad and we got off, but it was closed for Sports Day Banged Head [banghead]Censored [censored]. At least we went to Rainbow Ten across the street from HQTongue [:P]

Dang, I wish my company took Sports Day off, too!
We don't even get Green Day or Ocean Day off!!!
Not all Japanese companies get those "weird" holidays off...
Sigh...

Burian-sama:
that's a shame !
however, i hear that it is accepted practice for students & office workers to slip out to view the blossoming flowers at this time of year, so if u don't get the day off, at least take a long lunch hour ! Wink [;)]
Sakura time, neh ?

HeavyArty:
congrats on ur well-deserved win & upcoming trip!
i'm sooo jealous... i'd love to b going 2 Japan !
maybe someday...
