Tamiya 1/35 Tiger 1 Mid Production w/ Zimmerit
Posted by BattleTweety on Thursday, February 3, 2022 11:54 AM

Hi all,

I branched out to WW2 armor for this one and constructed Tamiya's very good Tiger 1 kit. I had a crack at putting some zimmerit on using modelling putty and a hacksaw blade and the result is not fantastic but gives it that certain "applied in the field" look.
Great kit with one annoyance, the damn tracks. I much prefer a single track strand than every single little piece that has to be glued together. But once I got through that, it all came together nicely. Very enjoyable subject overall.

I used Tamiya XF-88 Dark Yellow 2 for the main base colour and Tamiya XF-67 Nato Green for the striping.

Nice work on the zimmerit. Tamiya is notorious for having issues with the tracks being small but they are still much easier than individual tracks.

Looks fantastic to me!

I haven't built a German tank in years but I used to do zimmerit the same way. The results look good! Yes

This is a very nice kitty. The zimmerit looks very good with that field applied look and the paint chipping and weathering is very well done. Pat yourself on the back for a very nice Tiger tank.
