Brummbar question

Hmmm...good question!

You could always get the old Monogram 1/32 Brummbar...it's already zimmeritted (is that a word?)!

You could try photoetch or resin. I don't know who makes some, probably Eduard, they make everything.

Let me preface this by saying that it is in no way intended to be gospel truth, but is the best information I can find.

The order to start using Zimmerit was issued on 29 December 1943 and the order to cease using Zimmerit was issued on 9 September 1944. Therefore, we can assume that most (if not all) Brummbars produced between about January 1944 and September 1944 had Zimmerit applied. Some units continued to apply Zimmerit for a period of time after September 1944 anyway.

298 Brummbars and 8 converted PzKpfw IVs were produced between April 1943 and March 1945. Therefore, there were a significant number produced after September 1944 that probably would not have had Zimmerit applied (although some may have). I don't have the exact figures on the number of vehicles produced between Sep 44 and Mar 45 or the units to which they were eventually assigned.

I think Cavalier makes a Brumbar zim set.

The early model brummbar recieved zim in the field so any early vehicle built would have to be depicted as a pre-1944 vehicle to avoid adding zim.

Only some of the very late model Brummbar (have to be one depicted with the steel road wheels) were produced without Zim. The number built in the later months of the war were far fewer, as the Germans were a little reluctant to use them to destroy buildings, etc in their own country.

Cavalier does make a nice set. It come with pre-zimmerited machine gun mount and other bits. Great buy

Thanks for all the assistance....I think I'll bite the bullet, get some milliput and a hacksaw blade and give it a try.

Are you sure, go with the cavalier zimmerit. already pre made, all you have to do is cut it out (very easy) and put it on with some super glue. No mess, and you even get the free resin parts. Think it over just a teed bit

If you're going to go with the milliput then get Tamiya's zim tool, it'll help a lot and is only about 6 bucks US.

The Tamiya tools are great, if you can find them. I picked one up awhile ago and dont see any lately.
