This is really a question for ausf.

But the way I have understood this, is:
If the kit contains PE then you can use it ( I know there is a kit with PE zimmerit ) You may not use ANY AM parts.
Yes you may apply your own zimmerit, the question is can it dry enough in 24 hours that you can paint it.

And remember its ONLY 1/72nd scale.

John,
As my esteemed colleague from across the pond has stated,
The only rules are;
A Tiger I
Only what's in the box. So if you get a kit with PE included, knock yourself out.
1/72
24 hours.

It would be great if you could take a pic of the box on your local newspaper on that day, or as some suggested, in front of the weather channel or something specific to your time zone/area.

Mainly it's just to see how wild and creative people can get in a short period for fun.
When it's closer to the date, I'll come up with a system so you can get me the pics and I can first post them anonymously so members can vote on certain categories.

I can't participate in this one but I thought I'd share with you the results of a similar project that Shermanfreak and I worked on. I thought it was appropriate and that you might get a kick out of it.

Here's Roberts results.

The idea was sort of the result of a discussion a while back regarding rivet counters and fantasy builds.

Have fun with yours.

That is something ausf will have to answer.

Phroosh,
I checked with the International Rules Committee,

1/76 would be acceptable, but stolen goods are right out......No cretin sponsorship allowed.

I just looked at the MTD one sheet (which I haven't since I made it) and it does say no PE but I meant EXTRA parts, AM usually means resin to me. If your kit comes with resin and PE in the box, by all means.

Mike,
Excellent! I was hoping to see something right in line with that....

That reminds me Ausf, can you send him home? Big cities scare him, and I need something for the Stug build! Not too mention a Tiger for MTD.

Ok everybody! I have just ordered my kit for MTD, its the Hasegawa Late production with PE zimmerit, from http://www.greatmodels.com.
Ofcourse when I was there I had to look at their Memorial day sale, and ended up ordering a couple of transfer sheets for 1/35 Tigers.
I don't think I will be as lucky as ausf and phroosh, so I have to buy them myself Disapprove [V]

I'm sure my bill will get him at least as far as Oahu, he's on his own from there.

I think I may be violating the rules of Mad Tiger Day. [:0] I may build a Tiger for Kursk, for one of the SS Panzer Divisions, and neither Revell tiger is right for that -- one's too early, one's too late. If you use the turret sides from the late Tiger and everything else from the early tiger, you should get the right Tiger.

So I may wind up being an apostate. Laugh [(-D]

Or maybe I'll take the easy route and just do a Tunisia tiger, with the easier and more interesting camo pattern on the Bovington vehicle.

Larry,

Nothing personal, but relax, take a deep breath and two steps back. You sound like you're stessing.

We don't want to get into a "is the turret correct" or "the paint scheme looks wrong" debate during this build. If you want to try and build a 100% accurate replica of a specific Tiger I, no one's going to complain, but I think it deviates just a little from the intent of MTD - Have Fun!

I'm personally not even going to worry about the paint scheme until the day I open the box and as far a version goes, whatever the manufacturer put in the box is what I'm building. I'm just looking forward to having 24 hours of chaotic fun with this build.

Get that wax out of yer ears, soldier! Laugh [(-D] Nothing stressful in me about this fun build -- I've got lots of better things to stress about!

I'm not starting a debate. I'm just saying what I'm going to do.

Not a specific Tiger I, but a Tiger I from a specific period, which is what I'm going to do, I think. I'm not sweating anything.

Um, I think I just finished saying that! Laugh [(-D]

I think this build is what you want it to be.
If you want to build a 100% correct model and you think you can do that in 24 hours, then go ahead.
if you are in this build for fun, then go ahead and have fun.

Myself is a little bit of both, I don't think I can make a 100% correct model in 24 hours, on the other hand I am planing on building the Hasegawa model with the PE zimmerit so thats a bit on the detailed side.

But I WILL also have fun Big Smile [:D]

Personally I plan on building something absolutely 100% historically correct, but also what I'd consider a lot of fun and hopefully something completely unexpected.
I've already said more than I should. I hope I can pull it off.
The variety of what we'll see and what individuals consider fun will be the best part of this in my opinion.

P.S. I kind of expect to see the gamut from a museum quality piece to a purple Tiger with racing stripes Wink [;)]. And it will be all good.

I still say we all mail the finished builds to Shermanfreak afterwards. Not pics, the actual builds.
