                        I got me a hot knife... pyrograver for you folks accross the pond.... I tried it out making zimmerit on sat and was impressed at how well it worked. It takes some practive and a big set of brass to start melting a perfectly good kit. I'll get pics up asap. I got the thing at Wal-mart for 20bucks Its a wood burning kit but it comes with an exacto mount....
                        IT IS EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING!!!! but works very well...

Oh, keep the chop stick moist. Did two tanks that way. Banged Head [banghead] I'll either buy the zimmeret or use epoxey/putty/goo stuff thanks. Big Smile [:D]

                        Bill, I am still and will continue to practice before I butcher a good kit. Like I said before you have to be very slow and deliberate with the strokes to keep them more or less uniform. I am gonna experiment with a pointed tip rather than a blade next. I think that will be easier....(you have to keep the blade at an angle to get the wide groves rather than cuts)... I think a round point will make more sense... we'll see....

                        Here is my first go around... It turned out ok but I still need to practice a lot... It will be some time before I attack anything but an old kit with it...

                        I don't think I was at quite enough of an angle. I did try out the pointed tip and it worked well, but the tip is shorter and gets too hot. I am still working with my dimmer plug I built for the dremel to regulate the heat... seems to work but I ran out of time to play with it...

                        You can also find the same kit at micheals craft store plus you can also buy other tips for it there. Ive only used mine for wood burning so far. The one thing I would complain about is hot and uncomfortable to hold over extended periods of use, I ended up wearing a light leather glove because I was making XMAS presents with it and had to finish.

                        Truly... A superb job with the zimmerit. I will continue to practice because I believe in it. I have no plans for a zim'd tank in the near future so I have some time to practice. Thanks for the inspiration Shermanfreak.
