German armor versus the Sherman
Posted by Panther 44 on Saturday, June 26, 2004 4:22 PM
Hello All,
I hear so much about how popular German armor subjects are, that everyone does German armor. So my question is, if you had to model either German armor (all variants, tanks, SPG, half tracks etc.) or just the Sherman and it's variants ( no soft skins, half tracks, jeeps, etc) which do you choose?
These are the only two choices. If you choose the one you can't do the other.
I'm thinking the Sherman is more popular than I've been led to believe. So, pick your poison.
Don't let the user name fool you, the Sherman is ahead by one vote as of right now.
Regards,
Joe
P.S. Robert, you only get one vote.

I don't understand. Why can't the alternative be to model all forms of US armour, or even better Allied armour?

If it were between Allied Armour and German armour, I'd go Allied. If it were just Shermans against all German, I'd go German.

But then again, we don't have to choose.

Looking to be 5-4 German at this point. Looks good for the Sherman. Not sure about Jon's comment. Looks like another Axis defeat in the making.

Panzers are nice, but I have to vote Shermans all the way. [Even if their namesake did burn my hometown back in The Big War!]

Interesting, most interesting.
With all the variety of German armor against the "plain ol' Sherman", my count has it 12-7.
I'm thinking the Sherman is holding it's own pretty well. Not quite as well as I thought, but they may be a few more votes on the way.

German for me. I don't like Shermans as much as I like other allied tanks. And german stuff covers such a huge spectrum of subjects, and variety never spoils the broth. No. A stitch at night saves the spices of life. Different stuff makes you less bored, anyhow.

Give me my Panzers every time! My very first armor model was the Revell
M4A1-E8 from the 50s,but I recovered quickly... Maybe if it was called the
"Longstreet" or the " Stonewall" I could appreciate it more???
I would build one, say if Trumpeter did 1in 1:16,but a steady diet??
Kinda like a Buffet Table with nothing but potato dishes .
I love the variety of shapes, sizes, colors w. German armor.
