@Build22,

no, I'm building my Tiger I first (I will start a report on my web site) and after this I'm going to start my Famo 1/16 Projekt. If the Leopard's getting cheaper maybe I'll have one.
Furthermore there is a lot of plastic with this kit and so I wait what the early owners say to the reliability. Some members of our forum are developing custom metal parts because they are not happy about this "plastic monster" Wink [;)]

LOL, He says it's Christmas, New Year and His Birthday all in one day. You think He likes it?

Nice kit. I'm just not into post WWII stuff, I'll stick with My Tiger and M4 and wait for the Panther.

I just took a look at the pics there. The gearboxes and speaker unit aren't assembled. Nor are the gears metal. Hmmmm, I thought this kit was really expensive, topping the Tiger price, any info?

929 EURO for this kit in Germany, about 1100 $ ... this is why a lot of our members are disappointed.

QUOTE: 1100 $

wow, that's almost 1500 Canadian.....excuse me while I pass out. As much as I'd like to have one, I don't think I'd ever spend that much on one. Besides the sound reproducing hardware, everything else is RC gear you could get on your own for much much cheaper. But it does look so damn sweet though.

It's expensive here in Japan, too. List price is 118,000 yen (about $1072 USD), and the cheapest I've seen it discounted so far is 94,393 yen (about $858 USD).
It's gonna hafta get a LOT cheaper than that for me to even consider it!

The prices are a little lower at www.backyardarmor.com for this beast and I'm saving up because it should be a great model. Big Smile [:D]

Looks like a really nice kit, but I've got this thing about paying more than a mortgage payment on hobbies. Or even a fraction of a mortgage payment on hobbies.

On the bench: 1/32 Spit IXc

You spend one thousand, one hundred dollars on the kit.

You build and wire it, though it takes weeks.

You paint it, showing paintstaking attention to detail, to reproduce the current NATO camouflage.

You take it out into the yard and drive it around.

The joystick momentarily jams, it drives out into the road, and someone runs it over with their SUV.

The end.

here is a movie with sound:
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?tam56019

it seems to be a little problem with the upper hull part of the kit, one member wrote that Tamiya put in a spare hull part together with a note about wrong parts.

Hokey smokes! I need my butt whooped if I ever spend that much on a kit! Especially if the gears aint metal. Make it a 1/6, throw a gas engine in that puppy, waterproof it and give it a beefy drivetrain and we can talk.
