Sabra Main Battle Tank -- a modernised upgraded M60A3
Posted by David Voss on Monday, July 5, 2004 12:17 AM
When I first saw the photo and read the caption, I thought perhaps either the photo or the caption was incorrect. I was wondering to myself why the Army would spend the money to upgrade the M60 when they could have the M1. Are there any Guard units out there still using M60s? Then I read further and found out it was Israeli. I then read a sidenote which said that about one thousand M60s were supplied to Israel. The lightbulb went on. Now it makes sense.

the sabra MBT had been sold to turkey. IMI will modernize 170 m60 MBTs at a cost of $700 millions. it is a very good upgrade for the m60 which diferrent than the israeli MAGACH 7 by its 120 mm canon and the fire control computer.

Looks like someone mixed the M1, M60 and Leopard genes and come up with this.
