JP IV future....Just incase ya'll were wondering...
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 8:14 AM
Hey Ya'll ! Here is an inprogress shot of my JP IV diorama. Not much more work has been done on the tank itself till the rough ground work was done. Now I can add the small details without having to worry about breaking anything. The plaster is there to take up space under the future water. The hill is floral foam with celluclay on it. I still have to do the zimmerit and some other details but its comming along... I am planning to have a few figures and maybe some 1/35 scale Censored [censored]'s in there some where...

I have some clear resin for the water but that will come later...

Peace ya'll

Oh man, that looks like it'll be so sweet when done. Even this early, the detailing is really showing, and the edge between ground and 'water' is great.
You have to tell me, exactly what did you use for the grass? Did you paint said product? Pressed directly into wet celluclay?
Must....know....looks....so...good Smile [:)]

Looks like one of those nature documentaries about African wildlife. "The Jagdpanzer IV stops at the watering hole, not realizing that an IS-II is lurking in the mud below it." Laugh [(-D]

Seriously, I think that's going to look great when it's done.

n a less serious note, as you titled this "JP IV," I thought there would be dinosaurs in the message. Smile [:)]

Same here, Larry!

Great start there, KC!
You could title it "Sploosh!"

Looking very nice indeed, Kenneth. I've got a couple dioramas in mind that are similar to this. Looking forward to more of it's progress.

Enjoy your modeling...

Hey Ya'll,

Thanks for the comments. To answer some questions in no particular order: The grass is just static grass from the train store, it looks ok now but it hasn't been painted yet. So the look will change quite a bit when its painted. The celluclay was tinted with acrylic paint before the grass was sprinkled on that makes it tons easier to paint an hides white spots. The poured plaster will be painted then tinted clear resin poured over that. The suspension of the JP needs mudded up and painted. I have consitered what to put at the top of the slope ie (fence, hedge row, or nothing at all) Ya'll give me some ideas. I will have to mimic the paint scheme thats on the suspension so thats a done deal... Zimmerit is next so well see... I'll post back up when I get some more done...

TY ya'll

Shawn, I use some plaques that I buy from the Wal-Mart crafts section... I have made these my standard size... its the same base I used for the Panther though the barrel hanges over a little.... I like the size and COST! They run about 5 bucks each... Just sand them a little and paint or stain it...

I've never driven an AFV, but something tells me that the crew wouldn't drive the vehicle so steeply into the water like that of their own accord. I was assuming that it took a tumble. As long as it was physically possible, the Germans would try to pull it out and clean it up. Their recovery skills are legendary.

No it was supposed to be an accident to be sure, but I haven't decided if it is in-progress or aftermath...Big Smile [:D] Probably aftermath... it gives more ideas for figures and such.

You might even have some Russian or American troops scratching their heads as they inspect "their" trophy.

Absolutely love it! Can't wait to see the finished deal, looks awesome already.

It does look like it is drinking! I don't suppose there were any Jagdpanzers that had animal heads painted on the mantlets like some Stugs did? That would look excellent!

Juniormodeler... The grass is strait out of the tub, forgive me i don't remember the brand but I want to say its techstar. It isn't painted yet.

Ausf... Yep thats the one... After repairing it I tried to think of some way to use it and well here it lays...

Ok Ya'll time for confession! The reason it is in this diorama is that I royally messed up the nose while "experimenting" with milliput zimmerit it turned out well enough on everything but around the tranni hatches.... what a fiasco! I didn't have another batch of parts for the nose or the inclination to scratchbuild the upper plate w/ the hatches so searching for a solution conjured up this diorama idea... Ok I feel better now...

It was more of a happy accident, I learned that Milliput and small areas don't mix and picked up some practice making ground work.

I got some of the small fittings put on last night but I have to do another friggin rodeo this weekend but I will jump back on it next week and try to make some progress.

TY for the comments....

You give a few Hitlerjurgand panzer troops surplus leather U boat jackets, and all of a sudden they think they are in the Navy.Big Smile [:D]

Looks like it will be good one Kenneth. Now if we knew you were going to do this to it, we would have suggested you keep the old buckled rear and put a few AP round holes in it instead!
