I know this is way off topic but I was wondering if any one knew where I could get a WW2 German helmet? I dont want it to be original but it has to be ww2. I thought I'd give you guys a try since every one here is pretty smart and might help me out.(in a lower price range)

thanks, Levi

The other place you can try is Ebay. Mostly originals but sometimes the price is lower than at places like At the Front,,,,, or Lost Battalions

Slightly off the original subject, but I have an authentic original that is probably the oddest conversion done on a helmet. My father picked it up in Germany on a tour there (I was born there but have no memories of it) and it looks like someone painted it a gold/bronze color and turned it into a flower pot complete with drain holes drilled into it! Will have to post a picture of it, no one ever believes me until they see it...

I second ebay. You can get genune WWII German-made stahlhelms on ebay. There were millions of surplus helmets after WWII, and many nations used them. Eventually they adopted more modern helmets This is where the stahlhelms you see for sale usually come from.

I got one from WWI, an M1916 helmet, from a guy who thought it was a WWII helmet. It was around $25. And there are places on the internet that make the helmet innards as well, some even sewn on the same type sewing machines that made the originals.
