Great job to all of you. I spent the day pretty much in 3 different airports in 3 different time zones returning home from the Nationals. Didn't get home til 12:15 am Monday. Maybe I will have time for the Fokker build.

Buff: Nice work on the camo mate, looks good. I don't think my airbrush could have handled it either. Turned out nice though!

Larry: Bad luck on getting called in to work, but you still have a nice pair of Kittys. I admire you for being so ambitious.

Ryan: Very nice. You sure got a lot done mate. Looks like the mud went on just before you snapped the pics!

Domi: At least you got in there and had a go. That is a lot of work for six hours, and it will no doubt be a nice one when finished.

Dave: Fantastic! That Dragon kit sure looks nice. I like the rust on the tracks..

Well done to everyone.

Thank god that ordeal is over (aside for attaching the tow cables that got lost in the shuffle)! Big Smile [:D] Seriously, this was a rather interesting and enjoyable exercise. I've never really tried to build on a deadline like this. Based on the last 24 hours, at least 18 of which were spent building, I don't think I'll give up my day job to try and be a Hollywood modelmaker. How some you have time to build a great looking tank and include a nice diorama is beyond me. Bow [bow] It was everything I could do just to complete the kit. I think I turned off the compressor from my last dull coat at about 5 minutes before midnight. The whole experience reminds me of what I think the "While You Were Out" crew must face with most of their projects.

I wish my photographic skills and/or equipment matched my tank building skills, because I really think that the little Tiger looks a lot better in person. To add to my photographic shortcomings, is that fact that I put my photos in a WebShots album, but unfortunately, webshots seems to prevent the photos from being linked to directly when referenced from a forum message. Here's the URL to a photo album of my build.

Thank you Phroosh. Doing the camo decently had me fairly concerned. I've never tried a free hand camo-job on anything, let alone a 1/72 tank and I was breaking in a new airbrush to boot, a Badger 200 single action. So I was looking at two possible avenues of failure. That Badger airbrush rocks! Compared to my Aztek double action unit that I have never gotten comfortable using, the Badger was a piece of cake to dial in a nice fine line and then start drawing. I have a 1/35 Panther in the queue that I am a lot more confident in now.

Ironically, I think I may have hurt my Aztek's feelings, because when I went to use it to shoot a clear coat, the blasted thing developed an air leak in the handle and wouldn't work at all. Oh well, it supposedly has a lifetime guarantee.

DJ - actually, i did not know that. it certainly explains the size difference!

Daveash - very impressive! i am interested in how you spotted your fenders.

Buff - great looking hard eddge camo.

Easy8 - good job! and welcome to our madhouse

Ausf - you brought it on yourself, pal!

Wildwilliam, I did the same with the fenders, tow cables and jack as I forgot to drill out the holes during the build.

Phroosh, Thanks, you know what they say, necessity's a mother.

Ed, the Airfix is the Tigercoupe, the Dragon is the Panzsedan. Love the builds.

Ryan, was the dirt and mud in the box? Just kidding, Great job.

Daveash, Nice and thank you for building 007. I was getting worried after all, it's His day.

Buff, nice Camo. 1/72's not so bad huh? I mean if you had some time

Larry, sorry about your interruption, you got a lot done even though, great job.

Domi, Love to see some paint on it. Nice clean build.

Easy8, nice work and welcome.

ABARNE, that sure was an ordeal, Nice work and thanks to you too for your choice of Kitty.

Thanks to everyone for making this a blast, I'll get to work on a badge.

I'll try to whip up something tonight, my sons just woke up (they've been gone the whole weekend) and want to see the Tiger (they just found the empty box). After I show 'em, I don't think I want to see another Tiger for quite a while. Wink [;)]

WOW! there are really some great builds here. Good job guys!
This kit was a great build, anyone else who built it think so?
Also, Did anyone have troubles with the dragon tracks? I could get them to fit without a lot of trouble.

here are the rest of my pics
I painted the model with tamiya paints drybrused all of the zimmerate, and then lightly dusted with pastels. The decals went over well with the zimm and a little solvaset.

ill get some more.

oh and the this picture is the sunrise.

Great job all of you. I am amazed at what you accomplished. Sorry I let down my teammates! But I'm glad I gave it a try so as to give me a better appreciation of what you've done.

Congratulations to all you "Tigers". You guys each did a heck of a job, and as an observer, I have to say it was very entertaining, and absolutely hilarious at moments there for some of you. The builds are all great, and the determination to do it in 24hrs. is something one would have to go a ways to top. Thanks for a great weekend, you're each a winner. semper fi,mike

Nice build Rebel. Did you actually find those tracks easy? I had a dickens of a time trying to line up the guide teeth with the wheels. It wasn't real obvious to me where Dragon intended the out guide teeth to be placed. I think I ended up placing them just inside the 4 outermost road wheels but outside the 4 interleaved roadwheels. I don't think that is correct as far as real Tigers are concerned, but at 10:00PM with 2 hours to go and only about 3 hours of sleep in the past 24 hours, I really didn't care too much. The idler wheel compounded the mess. I actually pulled it off (along with a road wheel because of the German's godforsaken interleaved road wheels), sawed it half and shaved it down so that it could fit between the rows of guid teeth.

After getting the wheels in order, there was the task of trying to stretch the tracks in order to get some slack to aid in gluing them together. Strickly speaking I can't blame Dragon for my difficulties there. I simply needed three hands, and having only two, I guess I should blame my parents for the correct genetics they gave me! On the bright side, the tracks glued nicely with CA glue. If the tracks had been the "melt the pins with the hot screwdriver" variety, I think my Tiger would have ended up 1) smashed against the wall 2) battle damaged or 3) buried in a hull down emplacement.

I did find the decals went on beautifully. I fully expected to go through a pointless exercise of trying to apply decals over zimmerit, pulling them off after seeing how bad they looked, and the painting by hand. So I was really surprised to see nicely the conformed to the textured surface.

In spite of some difficulties with the wheels, I think it is a fairly decent kit.

Good job all, cant believe some of you finished in 1 day!!! and for all you that didn't, at least you tried, i usally cant get past step 1 in one day! i'm surprised no one built a 1/144 tiger, i built mine within an hour! 2 if you include paint. at first i thought everyone was building 1/35 kits, i guess 1/72 is more likely to be able to finish in one day. 1 have only build 1 1/72 tank, took me more than a month cause i gave up on the tracks halfway through.

Armourmaster: how did you do that mud on the tracks?

is there another mad armour day coming up? i might want to join, as long as it is during summer, i got nothing to do currently, out of models and money.

ABARNE, I couldnt get my road wheels on easily either. and the Idler wheel would line up correctly. other than those 2 things i enjoyed this kit.

.Ausf, though I enjoyed it I'm not ready to go braille scale just yet. Too much interesting 1/35 on my shelves.
Phroosh, the problem wasn't the airbrush, it was me. I don't have enough experience with an airbrush yet, but thanks anyway, and thanks to all who commented. I appreciate it. What some of you managed to do in 1 day is awe-inspiring. Your experience really showed.
