Great job all of you. I am amazed at what you accomplished. Sorry I let down my teammates! But I'm glad I gave it a try so as to give me a better appreciation of what you've done.

WOW! there are really some great builds here. Good job guys!
This kit was a great build, anyone else who built it think so?
Also, Did anyone have troubles with the dragon tracks? I could get them to fit without a lot of trouble.

here are the rest of my pics
I painted the model with tamiya paints drybrused all of the zimmerate, and then lightly dusted with pastels. The decals went over well with the zimm and a little solvaset.

ill get some more.

oh and the this picture is the sunrise.

I'll try to whip up something tonight, my sons just woke up (they've been gone the whole weekend) and want to see the Tiger (they just found the empty box). After I show 'em, I don't think I want to see another Tiger for quite a while. Wink [;)]

Phroosh, Thanks, you know what they say, necessity's a mother.

Ed, the Airfix is the Tigercoupe, the Dragon is the Panzsedan. Love the builds.

Ryan, was the dirt and mud in the box? Just kidding, Great job.

Daveash, Nice and thank you for building 007. I was getting worried after all, it's His day.

Buff, nice Camo. 1/72's not so bad huh? I mean if you had some time

Larry, sorry about your interruption, you got a lot done even though, great job.

Domi, Love to see some paint on it. Nice clean build.

Easy8, nice work and welcome.

ABARNE, that sure was an ordeal, Nice work and thanks to you too for your choice of Kitty.

Thanks to everyone for making this a blast, I'll get to work on a badge.

Wildwilliam, I did the same with the fenders, tow cables and jack as I forgot to drill out the holes during the build.

ABARNE,
naturally, i cannot go to webshots from work. but i will check your pics when i get home.

DJ - actually, i did not know that. it certainly explains the size difference!

Daveash - very impressive! i am interested in how you spotted your fenders.
i could not figure out where the holes should go, so i sanded off the pins
and eyballed them in.

Ryan - nice work! the mud looks nice & wet.

Buff - great looking hard eddge camo.

Easy8 - good job! and welcome to our madhouse

Ausf - you brought it on yourself, pal!
i suppose i should ask you if you made our badge yet.

Thank you Phroosh. Doing the camo decently had me fairly concerned. I've never tried a free hand camo-job on anything, let alone a 1/72 tank and I was breaking in a new airbrush to boot, a Badger 200 single action. So I was looking at two possible avenues of failure. That Badger airbrush rocks! Compared to my Aztek double action unit that I have never gotten comfortable using, the Badger was a piece of cake to dial in a nice fine line and then start drawing. I have a 1/35 Panther in the queue that I am a lot more confident in now.

Ironically, I think I may have hurt my Aztek's feelings, because when I went to use it to shoot a clear coat, the blasted thing developed an air leak in the handle and wouldn't work at all. Oh well, it supposedly has a lifetime guarantee.

Thank god that ordeal is over (aside for attaching the tow cables that got lost in the shuffle)! Big Smile [:D] Seriously, this was a rather interesting and enjoyable exercise. I've never really tried to build on a deadline like this. Based on the last 24 hours, at least 18 of which were spent building, I don't think I'll give up my day job to try and be a Hollywood modelmaker. How some you have time to build a great looking tank and include a nice diorama is beyond me. Bow [bow] It was everything I could do just to complete the kit. I think I turned off the compressor from my last dull coat at about 5 minutes before midnight. The whole experience reminds me of what I think the "While You Were Out" crew must face with most of their projects.

I wish my photographic skills and/or equipment matched my tank building skills, because I really think that the little Tiger looks a lot better in person. To add to my photographic shortcomings, is that fact that I put my photos in a WebShots album, but unfortunately, webshots seems to prevent the photos from being linked to directly when referenced from a forum message. Here's the URL to a photo album of my build.

Buff: Nice work on the camo mate, looks good. I don't think my airbrush could have handled it either. Turned out nice though!

Larry: Bad luck on getting called in to work, but you still have a nice pair of Kittys. I admire you for being so ambitious.

Ryan: Very nice. You sure got a lot done mate. Looks like the mud went on just before you snapped the pics!

Domi: At least you got in there and had a go. That is a lot of work for six hours, and it will no doubt be a nice one when finished.

Dave: Fantastic! That Dragon kit sure looks nice. I like the rust on the tracks..

Well done to everyone.

Great job to all of you. I spent the day pretty much in 3 different airports in 3 different time zones returning home from the Nationals. Didn't get home til 12:15 am Monday. Maybe I will have time for the Fokker build.

Here is my progress after 24 hours.

Unfortunately my nightshift was not quiet at all, 2 major breakdowns that cut my building time by hours.
I will finish it when I get up later, fix the track sag, weathering etc.
Some great builds on show here, well done everyone.

So that's my Tiger... Utterly failed in reaching the painting stages, but as explained somewhere else, the Wife had me working a large part of the day, so this is what I managed to do in just over 6 hours at the desk.

I'm rather happy with the results so far, to be honest. The kit (Revell's Ausf.H, 1/72) is quite good but I did experience fit problems (too tight!) and had to chop a couple of parts to get them to 'work'. The tracks are real nice, but as said somewhere else too, putting them together in 6 hours is tricky to say the least. I'd recommend a bit more time, drying time that is!

I did manage to 'improve' upon the kit a little, by making my own tow cables and adding metal wire handles and adding thinner, better looking front mudguards.

All in all, it was a blast and I again thank Ausf for getting us involved in this crazy schemeSmile [:)]. More please! A great 'Bravo' to all 'contestants'. I'm really impressed by what you all achieved. Can't barely believe some actually built two Tigers! Wildwilliam, of course that Airfix kit was originally sold as a HO scale, then as 1/76, rather than 1/72.... In the meantime, I promise to put some paint on that Tiger soon, and I look forward to seeing you all on the Mad Fokker Day, on Sunday 17th of October 2004...Evil [}:)]

I gave my tale of woe in the Gentleman's thread, but here is my final result, such as it is. No decals and no wash because I had planned to whitewash the tank, but as you will read in the other thread, the whitewash didn't work out. The camo scheme is that of s.Pz.Abt 510 in Kurland, Jan. 1945 (except the whitewash is missing!

I also plan to festoon them with spare links on the turret and hull front, as they did on the real battles, because there were lots of JS-IIs, ISU-152s and SU-100s up there. I have the links all done and ready to put on once the whitewash is done. I got screwed by a potential bankruptcy filing of a borrower, so I was needed in the office. For seven hours. Sad [:(]

Ausf, very original.

Buff, Nice paint job...

All right, done. I would have had the pics up by midnight has photobucket not decided to go wonky on me literally at the last minute.
Ausf, thanks a whole bunch for putting this together. Even though it was occasionally frustrating beyond words at times, I really enjoyed myself.

I really need to be able to do this kind of painting with my airbrush before I do this again. Basecoat went down ok, but the fine line didn't, so I hand brushed it. The wash also darkened it more than I really wanted. I'll chalk it up to experience. I have the Tamiya Panther G on the shelf, and I'll consider this one practice. It was well worth it. Thanks again Ausf.

Ausf: Great work on a truly original Tiger! Well done mate. Glad you got pretty frazzled, you deserve it!

Ed: You were the craziest of the lot! The Dragon kit still turned out pretty good, I reckon. I hope Ausf got to bed before he saw the Airfix Tiger. Poor bloke will have nightmares.

Nice work there Easy8, that mud looks a treat! Which kit was that?

Oh I forgot to mention my Girlfriend painted the little bricks that my poor robbed Tiger has been propped up on. She was pretty chuffed with them, and i told her I would mention them.

In with about 1 hr 40 min to spare

I had a few distractions today so I didn't get as much time with this as I thought I would, But I'm not sure if it would have mattered. This was my 1st run at 1/72 scale, and I think it's a bit too tedious for my limited skills. I'll stick to 1/35 for a while.

Anyhow, I did learn a few things in the process. In hindsight, I maybe should have hand painted the camo stripes. The overspray from my airbrush is too out of scale.

ok, i got abt 1/2 an hour of time left,
but truth be told, i packed it in around 11.
here is the Airfix kit.
please send your children to another room

don't adjust your monitor! that's what it looks like.
:-)

still wanna see it . . .
gluttons indeed.

notice the tracks trying to pull the wheels off?
i should have done it w/o the tracks.
we have most of the other variations! :-)

now for the weird part.
check out the side by side.
two 1/72 Tigers . . .

does it look like the Dragon kit is hogging all the food or what?!?

well, thanks again all!
two pretty sorry builds here. The Dragon due to the hurry.
the Airfix due to a few errors at the plant!
i suppose if i had put all the time into one of them (the Dragon, that is)
i might have made a better showing.
great fun nonetheless.

good night, all.
