I am trying to find out if I remember reading somewhere that the M41 Walker Bulldog was refit with a 105mm gun, I picked up a M60 Italeri and it had a spare gun, and I am wondering if the 105 was ever fit on the M41. That way I know if it would be "historically accurate" or if I am doing my own fit.

Don't think it ever had a 105mm gun put into it. The chasis and turret would not support the weight and the recoil of the much larger gun. FAS web site does not mention it being upgraded beyond more pwerful 76mm guns. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m41.htm

Ahhhh, ok, I was pretty sure it was upgraded, but I wasn't sure what size that upgrade was. I looked up FAS too... I just thought for certain I read a couple weeks ago somewhere while looking up the History of the M41 that it was trial fit with a 105, but it wasn't widely distributed... Now I can't find the site cause I looked at a lot of them to get the history of the M4....

and if I can't find the history, oh well, I might still hook up the M41 with a 105 just for the "gun" (hehe) of it......

Anymore help in this matter by anyone would be appreciated...

Hi RustyFord,
In Squadron's M-41 In Action book on page 49 they show an M-41 with a British L-7 105MM gun mounted.
Says it was used as a test bed and not intended for production. The basic hull looks the same, but the turret is completely new. Very angular in appearance.

Joe

There was a plan to upgun it with a 90mm and then a 105mm in a new turret, but it never materialized. Info according to Hunnicutt Sheridan book.

Huh, thought I posted on this last night.
Oh well. The Brazialians rearmed their Bulldogs with 90mm guns but all of the other armies have used some form of 76mm. I did see one pic where the gun looked like a 105 but was just a different barrel (think it was Taiwan).

Big Smile [:D] OOPs, know why I couldn't find my post. It was on the thread in the Reference Section. My Bad.
