Pak 40 colors
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 10:55 AM
Hello, sorry if this has been posted before. I plan to build a Tamiya Pak 40 kit (that I haven't bought yet) and since I have to buy online (no hobby shops around here) I was wondering if someone who has built it could give me the list of paints the kit requires so I know what I need to buy in advance and not pay extra shipping for a separate order of paints.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on what color scheme you choose. You can do Panzergrey or dunkelgelb. If you do dunkelgelb, than you may want to camo it with red-brown and olive green. Also you will need black, metallic grey, wood, and silver. Good luck.

I built mine and painted it Panzer gray. You could also do a simple Africa yellow if you wanted. You'll also want to get some flat black for the tires, and maybe some flat white so you can mix it with your base color to begin creating a faded, weathered appearance--but that's me.Blush [:I]

It's a great kit; straightforward and easy to build without a lot of parts. Just be careful when sanding the barrel seams. As I remember, the barrel has a significant taper as it comes off the cradle. It's kinda easy to disfigure the taper.

Looking forward to receiving and building the new PAK40 from AFV club. If it's anything like their PAK 43/41 (I'm building that now), it should be terrific......but I digress.

Good luck!

I built the Tamiya one and it was fun and quick (finished in less than 12 hours) I painted it for Africa and added a dark green/ dark sandish color for the camo and painted the tires a mix of black, grey, and brown.

you will also need a drop of red for the light/reflctor on the front.
if you are goint to paint the 3 man crew, you will need some flesh color,
feldgrau (greenish grey) for the uniforms. the rest of the colors for them
(black, silver, leather/brown) you can get from the paints you used for the gun.
it's a nice little kit.
