I'm not totally sure why, but, I have placed a 'pre-order' for one of these Hotchkiss kits at HobbyLink Japan. Supposedly to be released in December. How convenient for Christmas shopping! Think the wife will mind? The way I look at it she now will get me 'just what I wanted'! Ho! Ho!

Chris, nothing more simple! Just create a new message/GB in the GB forum..!

I'm quite happy to do it, but after all, you started this thread! Smile [:)]

I think that if we go with the 'open ended' option, we can basicaly start right away and let people discuss ideas there, and start updating us about their builds as and when they want.

Jeff,

This information maybe little old but I have a copy of AL.BY Miniatures catalog. The address on it is:

AL.BY
BP 34-82400
Valence D'Agen
France
Tel. 563291122

They list the same telephone number for their fax number. You can give it a try and see if it works.

I am interested in a group build. How do you go about starting one? I definitely would like to try it. It's great that I can find a group of people interested in the same subject that I am.

Ok then.. What about an open-ended GB where one can drop in / drop out anytime; it kind of becomes a mini-forum on French AFVs. There's a similarly open ended GB in the aircraft section (Prototypes) that works quite well that way.

I've just received Retromodels latest kit, a Somua MCG that I'm now dying to build!

Huh, wonder why all the interest in the Hotchkiss in particular? Did Trumpeter and Pit Road sit down together and say "let's pick a subject and compete?" Big Smile [:D] One of them should have done a Char instead.

Hi Steve,

The MB Models Char B1is an interesting kit, I think. I have FSM's review of it somewhere. I have seen a built up kit and it was very nice. Mike Bishop who produced the kit lives in my area and so I got the kit from the source a few years back. I wish I had got his Char D2 kit when I had the chance.
Thanks for answering my post. Perhaps we can a group build going on this subject.

I've got an MB Models Char B1 bis in resin that's been gathering dust on the shelf for about the last 100 years. I could probably get into a build. I've got a Souma and a Hotchkiss as well.

I've got tons of French stuff in 1/72 - 1/76, some in 1/100, a couple in 1/35...

Looks like we have a nucleus of interested parties for this GB... What about a Feb-March 05 start?

Great! There are others interested. I have been collecting things over the years and this is what I have accumulated:

NKC AMR 33 ( on the bench)
NKC FCM 36
MB Models Char B1 bis
Heller SOMUA S35
Heller Renault R35
RPM Renault UE
Matchbox Char B1 bis/FT 17 (1/72)

I had my chance to get MB Models Char D2 but I didn't move on it. I still want to get around the getting Heller's Hotchkiss H39 and RPM's FT17. I do have quite a few references but my French translating skills are that great. I have Steelmasters, After the Battle, AFV Profiles, and other magazines that I can't recall at the moment. I have a copy of Chars B au Combat (Histoire & Collections Books ) coming. I have been looking on getting a copy of After the Battle's Blitzkrieg in the West book. Thanks to all that answered this post. I have been to the LES UNITES
DE CHARS FRANCAIS website and it is very interesting.
I am glad I posted to this forum.
