As promised here are some pics of my DAK Panzer IIF, not quite finished, but probably will be at some stage.

Looks great. I like the gray peaking through the desert yellow paint. One little thing you might want to correct though, your tracks are on backwards. Blush [:I]

haha, ok, well not....

I love the weathering!
like to see a simple kit get turned into something purdy.

Nice job, gander_demon. The weathering looks great. Did the figure come with the kit?

Nice weathering on the Pz II, but I believe with the stowage bin attached, it becomes a Pz II G. The decals look awesome and it really has a battle beaten look. Oh and btw your tracks are on backwards.

yep my bad it is a IIG and the tracks are on backwards because i'm an idiot - it isn't quite finished so I will rectify that and a couple of the other little errors.

Dan the figure is a Tristar DAK panzer crew figure with a warriors head. I highly recommend Tristar - some of the best figures in plastic I have seen. (although this one needed to be coerced into the rather narrow coupla.)

I used an Eduard PE set which is only the second time I have used PE and was generally impressed although due to my own inexperience/clumsiness there are a few minor fit problems that may need to be disguised with a strategically placed tarp. I also replaced the barrel with a Jordio Rubio one and of course replaced the tracks (Homer says D'oh). I also had to realign the coupla to fit the figure, and am still dithering about whether to place an engine and cooling system inside.

I will post a closeup of the commander later (complete with the odd painting blemish)

its some stuff I found ages ago (I can't recall which company) you spray it with water and it sets hard. They had various shades and this one is sand. It's great stuff but I haven't seen it since which is a pity.

Very nice work on the figure detail and the kit as well! Nothing to add to what's already been said. Only question mark I have is regarding the JR barrel...it looks solid in the pics, is it really solid? If so, I'd recommend drilling out the muzzle a bit more to give it some added depth. JR has a tendency to supply white metal muzzle extensions and if they did the same in this case, it could be corrected with a simple drill bit and a Dremel.

Hey, here is a pic of a PZII-G I did when I first got back into modeling a year or so ago. Completely Tamiya out-of-the-box, including figures, hand painted, oil washed/weathered, etc. I drilled out barrels on the cannon and mg using a pin vice....verrrrrry slowly. I also drilled out the muffler.

Your model caught my eye since the composition was similar, on a vignette base. Let me know what you think. I still see opportunities with it, butttttt, I don't think i'll mess much more with it unless someone else finds something interesting. Stu

Cool work Stu, I really like your paintwork and your base, mine is a touch too narrow.

Having used indy track links before I couldn't really understand what the problems others had with them were, these ones were real suckers for fit, particularly over the idlers.

The kit is very dated now, but with a little TLC like yours it can still look pretty schmick.

Hi gander.

I got the same model but I didn't want to go with a Afrika Korps look. So I made mine in original Grey as a Pz II F and set him in a ruin vignette. This one is straight out of the box. Hope you like it.
