I need some help with my LVT interior
Posted by usmc1371 on Friday, March 9, 2007 1:57 PM

Hello all,

I got Italeri's LVT-(A)1 and Verlinden's detail set for it.  The detail set includes the driver's compartment, transmission, turret, and engine.  I don't have any reference pictures of these areas and I don't know what color to paint them.  Can anyone provide some help?

Thanks,

Jesse

The interior color of the LVT's was all white. The below links are to pics of the interior of an LVTA5 Modified, which has the identical driver station layout as the LVT2, LVTA1, LVTA4, and LVTA5 (cant say if same as LVT4 because I haven't got to crawl into one of those). There are a couple items missing such as radio equipment, seat cushions, and compass.

Actually took this thing out on a beach run today, the white was handy in making the multiple transmission oil leaks readily apparent. Talk about a rough ride, and not all that fast. Tears up asphalt really good too.

I have photos of an LVTA1 interior, but it is not restored and shows 60 years of neglect and abuse, doubt they would be of any help.

Deattilio,

Thanks for the pictures.  Looks like Insignia White to me.  I think your LVT-(A)1 interior photographs would be a big help.  Please post them or send me a link to them.  I would greatly appreciate it.

That last picture of the LVT-(A)4, is that in California?  The background looks familiar.  I spent 3 years on Camp Pendelton.

Thanks again,

Jesse

I will hunt the recent shots I took of the A1 and load them into photobucket. I remember putting them on disc, now to locate that disc.

The A5 shots are from on Camp Del Mar aboard Camp Pendleton. Below are a couple more while on the beach. The P7 was required to provide a slave, amazingly enough the A5 uses the same hook up that we use today, just requiring a NATO adapter to the plug. We got video of the run, we just have to crunch it to cd, maybe I'll be able to upload it and provide a link.
