Wow, this is a really cute kit! How does it compare to the 1'72 Emhar kit?

Where did you get the reference for the interesting camo?

Is it an OOB build?

Not too many 1/72 guys on this site, but i love 'em! Keep 'em coming!

hi doog,  never had a bash at the emhar kit, the camo' was from a picture of the tank with my grandad at the side of it, in france only b/w but he told me what the colours where.  bless him he died in 1981 and i still miss him and think about him.

the model was straight out of the box, the tracks where a right pain to stay flat.

i've got a tiger 1, sherman, panther, centurian all in 1/72, theres als a emhar 1/35 ww 1 tank, i'll put some pic's up in a bit

  regards,.. ian.

Hi Ian

Like you I have some 1/72nd tanks.  I put the German one up as a match!  You may already know that the camouflage pattern on your tank was devised by Lt Col J Solomon in 1916.  Many though were then overpainted on arrival in France as people thought it wasn't suitable.  So you Grandads first hand evidence is very interesting.  You don't know which unit he was in do you?  I had a relative killed in the Tanks who served in the 4th Btn whose tanks all had names beginning with D.

hi edorc,  i've got no idea what regiment he was in, he only ever told me about things when i sat on his lap and held my arms around him. and there are stories i want to keep for myself.

his name was percival dennis wells.

nothing to do with tanks though ! the whole of my grandads family including his mam and dad helped build the ship 'RMS TITANIC' they all had free tickets to go on that tragic maiden voyoge, my grandad refused because he didn't like tall things and so he was the only person left in his family, after that he joined up to the army, as there was nothing else worth living for and he still survived ww1.

i got a book of the deaths on the titanic, because i didn't believe him and low and be hold he told me their names and they are in the book.

Hi Ian

Some people's lives are so extraordinary are they not?   He went through all that and no doubt never recieved any counselling, compensation or thought of sueing anyone for anything!

In my book as someone who saw action in WW1 he can be saluted as a true hero.

Hi Ian

I wonder whether you would be willing to share the original photo of your Grandad and his tank with us?  I would very much appreciate it if you could.
