You know I'm having a problem here. I'm starting to picture an Elefant with a duct tape trunk (say that fast 5 times!! LOL) and some stretched sprue tusks! Oh, this could really get good!

I was thinking of Patton's Patton and his parade jeep I'd seen at the Patton Museum in storage.... (I sat in 'his' seat, but don't tell anybody as it's secret, okay? ) And how much the jeep even looked like 'Patton'. You know, custom fenders, gloss green paint, not OD, etc. And. well, began to wonder what (had Patton lived) what his parade tank would look like.
So, that's the tack I'm taking. After all, aren't a tanker and his tank one in the same?

By the way, 'Build', thanks for the sprue info! I'm gonna have to try that sometime. Now, you heat the duct tape the same way to stretch it, right? Or do you need do douse it with WD 40 also??

Ron,
You got it -
-Douse the duct tape in WD 40
-Stick it into the candle
- POOF - takes your eyebrows and eyelashes off everytime !
and Frosty - you're right
to tell you the truth - I very rarely have discussions about WD 40 or duct tape with most woman - I give you credit - you are well informed !
Sorry, Sherm for interupting w/unrelated topics.

I would love to do something like this but unfortunately, I have to wait a month or so before I could. But I just came up with a really interesting one, Cromwell! imagine doing a tank to look like it was for the 17th century!

Does anybody know what the Japanese WWII 'names' meant Chi Ha, etc? That could be an idea also.
Need to find Georgie and Willy.
Ron.
By the way, tried the duct tape, WD 40 and candle technique. You're right... POOOF!!! .... What do I do with a bald cat?

Those Japanese "names" don't really have meaning, per se. Not like "Tiger" or "Sherman," anyway. They were just simple designations. In the case of the Chi-Ha, Chi indicated medium, but doesn't mean medium in the Japanese language. It is the first "letter" of the word chuu, which does mean middle, or medium, however. The Ha or He or Ni designates the sequence in which the design was introduced.
I think!

Thanks for the info about the names, Brian.
I looked at my 7 year old sons homework last night. They have him writing numbers in Japanese! School was never like that for me! I don't know what their idea behind it is (it's in his math class), but I assume they are trying to show the kids that numbering systems are similar even if the symbols are totally different. (Two weeks ago, it was numbers in braille!)
I keep taking the e out and drooling over the pieces!! Still thinking about a paint scheme. I think I've decided on one as a Wermacht '46 design. As a clue...I've always wanted to do a tank in Panzer Grey, but I won't stop there!
btw, The decals that came with my kit say they are for the Maus! Do you remember if your's were that way, of did I get a "special" edition?? Since it's all hypothetical as to "decorations", I figure it doesn't matter much, but am curious as to what the e-100 decals looked like.
Have a fun day;

Sounds like a very comprehensive school your younguns' going to!
I had TWO sets of the Maus decals in my E-100's box! Used neither, since I stenciled. Great for the spare decals box!

Well, have been doing a bit of research and I've come up with a series of German AFVs that will (should) make a decent looking 'big cats' display. It will be called 'Unleash the beasts', or something like that!
SdKfz 234 Puma
Tiger I
King Tiger
Hunting Tiger
Panther
Pz II ausf L Luchs (Lynx)
Gepard AA
Leopard I
Leopard II
Spz Luchs 8 wheel A/C
Jaguar
The problem is a constant scale... All but the Sdkfz 234 are available in 1/87, while the Gepard and the Jaguar are not in 1/72 - 1/76.... Of course the Gepard could be modified from a Leopard I...
Also, I never knew that 'Panther' was not a specific animal... It's a name given to a number of big cats... usually to the Leopard, and its South American cousin the Jaguar. As to Gepard, it's German for Cheetah. Notice that the animal called Florida Panther is a type of Puma. My head is spinning now...

Hi, Bill! I musta missed this post over the last week.
The stencils I used on the E-100 were Eduard's German Numbers Large set (XT 009).
The King ain't gonna make the deadline, I'm afraid...which means the 1/16 Tiger I launch will be delayed as well.
Oh well, it's a hobby, not a job!
Ron, I just do what I can!

Yeah, too bad about the King. This was gonna be a big contest, too, with coverage in Armour Modelling and folks from Tamiya on hand. I'll still be there, just sans plastic!
The farther I progressed with the conversion the deeper it got! I want to do it right, so I'm gonna do just that. Take my time, and do it right. It'll be ready for some contest, sometime!
Bill got a B-day this weekend, folks!
Me? Challenge Robert? Well, I still gotta go through Domi to get to Shermanfreak challenging stage!
And Domi is quite a force to be reckoned with!

Frosty, I haven't started the E yet. I keep looking (drooling) longingly at it, but I want to finish the mid tiger first, and I'd like to get a little further with my elefant. But who knows. Brian keeps getting me fired up over it!
My son's school isn't really doing anything with Japanese. They just had a homework assignment where they had to write down some numbers using Japanese numbers. I thought it was pretty cool. I wish they would teach the kids a few words in Kangi (sp?) just to give them an idea of how it works. I think it would be facinating.

Jimmy Buffet???
Frosty, perspective might work... I had not thought of that! I had been contemplating scratchbuilding instead... The Jaguar thingy is rather angular. And the Gepard should not be big trouble, when I get a scale drawing. But I'll start first with the existing stuff. Some might not 'work out' well: the Puma's coat is rather bland, and so can be the Lynx's (The European Lynx is slightly more colorful though). Let's see how the Leopard works out first. I've started the Revell 1A5, and it's a very nice little kit. When I say 'little', I was actually surprised to see it's almost as big as the King Tiger...

And Happy Birthday to you, fellow scorpio! My birthday is the 25th (few years difference, though.)
Thank you for the Maus wishes, too. I doubt that will happen because it's just too hard to find that kit around. (I know where one is, but it's a further drive than my wife would have time to make at the moment.) But the 31st is a payday weekend, and it's not too far a drive for me!! lol
My wishes are with you to gain a picture maker of your own. I'd really like to see some of your work. I am excited for you.

Ron, the funny thing is, that hobby shop is less than a mile from her youngest sisters house. But she is in school (Masters), working 40+ per week (Police dispatcher), and doing her field internship (20 hrs per week) so she doesn't even have time to see her. But thanks for the idea! Okay,
As long as you have a handle on it, I 'spose I'll let you both have a nice time. Sounds like Saturday night is 'Put in Kelly's Heroes and work on a model' night! ... or is it the sister who's working...? Guess it doesn't matter, women love watching Kelly's Heroes, so if your wife's home put the movie in! Of course, don't expect any more 'attention' from your wife for a few days.

Okay, I give, Ron. Why would women like Kelly's Heros?? I like the movie, especially Donald Southerland's character (Oddball, isn't it??), but I can't, for the life of me, visualize it as a chick-flick! Maybe they get all jumped up over Telly Savalis's part?? lol Anyway, she won't be home. She has to be at work by 6:45. Why don't y'all come over for a building paty!!

Everybody knows women find tankers and especially tanks to be very sexy.. lol. I don't know, my wife laughs at Oddball's dog imitations and his drinking wine, eating cheese, and catching a few rays. Am I going to have to watch that tonight? hmmm.
I'd love to do a building party... we used to do those all the time when I was a kid! I'm up here in the great white north (Wisconsin)... but unfortunately will be at drill on your birthday. Live fire ex. with the Paladin. I guess I'll be having at least a little fun!
