AS-90 scheme?
Posted by fantacmet on Monday, October 8, 2007 2:28 AM

I don't really feel like doing the multicolor camo scheme on my AS-90.  Anyone know if these were in any other schemes?  Like just overall green, or a desert scheme?  Or were they all in the black/green camo scheme?

As far as I know, they have only ever been fielded in two schemes - Bronze Green/Black & British Armour Sand

Shaun is correct.  Bronze Green/Black in England/Europe and Sand in Iraq.

famtac,

Is this the kit that you are going to use for the Artillery GB?  Make sure you post up some pictures of it as you are building it.

Jthurston,

Bronze Green sounds like something that you'll normally see from 3 week old pizza or from a bottled baby food.  Yuck [yuck]

It is the green in the British Black and Green scheme.  It is a little brighter than US dark green.

It looks like this:

Gino,

Is this Bronze Green available in MM Enamel or Arcrylic?

Revell and Humbrol have it in the tins, but I have never seen it here in the states.  I would just take some MM Medium Green and darken it up a bit.  Once weathered, it is close enough.

I have used the MM Marine Corps Green FS 34052 to do my Chieftain. With a suitably grubby wash, it looks pretty close.

I live outside of Saint John, N.B. Canada. Several years ago shortly after the AS90's came out, some were shipped to Canada to go to the British base out west. They were painted dark green with sand. I have some 35mm photos to scan and add to the post. I will try to remember to get them tonite.

A number of AS-90s have been painted up in the two-tone sand and green BATUS scheme. I can upload a pic when I get home of a bunch of them sitting in the Bovington motor pool.

See also http://www.raserver.co.uk/online/public/hotmedia/AS90.wmv about half-way through the video.

Yup, forgot about the BATUS Sand/Green AS-90s.  All other operational units have beeen either black/green or sand though.

Nice, I happen to have a bottle of the British Sand color, to use as highlights on something.  Yes this is for the Artillary GB.  Thanks for the help.  Any pics of them in this scheme by chance?

Like this?

From Prime Portal.  There is a complete, 17 page, walk-around of a BATUS AS-90 there.

Some AS-90's also come in all over British green so if you dont want to mask you can either chose that or tan.The green varies quiet alot in tone and I always use a mix of Tamiya Nato green and olive drab,it's not quiet the same as the bronze green that has been mentioned.

As for the  real life tan well that varies from tan to stone so you can use a mix of desert yellow/buff to desert yellow/dark yellow depending on how early or late you want to depict the vehicle and you wont be far wrong.
