HEY! HERE IS A GERMAN TANK!

Thats no dog. Thats a Panther Command tank,by the looks of the antena array. I would say that you did an excellent job on the build. I don't know if that was a dog of a kit , but I do know for sure that you made something very good of it. I really like the fine detail work and the paint scheme. The assembly also looks top notch.  Any problems with fit?

Yes there were a few fit problems with ITELERI's kit but no big deal. Some good reference photos and a little work and patience and it'll work out fine. If you want a good A model, get DRAGONS. If you've got an ITELERI kit then the fit problems are with the rear engine plate , the sponsons , the upper and lower nose join and the turret seating. For the turret I had to enlarge the race opening so that the turret sat closer to the hull deck. Another problem was the drivers compartment acces plate which didn't fit snugly in the the opening. There are a lot of small things that had to be replalced and I didn't get all of them. This build was, well it was just for the fun of it.. I just wanted to see how far I could get it before I burned out.

I'd say go for the DRAGON kit. They have a PREMIUM release that , I'm sure , would be a fun build.

These were the first TAMIYA releases of the TIGER,which was motorized, and the JAGD TIGER. They've got to be 25 or more years old. I learned how to air brush on the Hunting TIGER and after a while both of these models became a test bed for paint colors and zimmeritt (on the TIGER) and eventually there was so much paint on them that they started to loose their shapes!

One day I decided to put a firecraker in the TIGER and blow it to hell. Well, it didn't go to hell but it stayed in my front yard for years. The Hunting TIGER just sat out in the elements and eventually melted from the direct sunlight.

I think it's some of my best work!

Very nice representation of a command tank from the 1SS PD during Normandy, particularly when you consider it was an Italeri kit...you even carved "LSSAH" into the zimm like on the real tank...BRAVO!

PS: I also like your panzer wreck Dios---the foilage looks very real...

Wow, beautiful paint and zimm job!!  Way to make an old dog look new!  The only thing that keeps this from looking truly like the real deal is the road wheels on the left side, they seem to float above the tracks a bit.

 MR- I agree on the foliage, LOL.

Wonderful work. Zim looks appropriate and even did it with Squadron putty! Some people can pull it off (9 Toe Tanker). Italeri makes some sweet kits, and this looks like a nice one. It might be me, but the Schurzen looks small, but that is no fault of yours and it might be accurate. Hope to see more.

Yeah, the first left outside road wheel does look a little elevated. The FRIUL track was loose and the base was uneven and having had to move the model around to shoot it I must have not placed it properly. Amazing what you see when you shoot photos and have an extra pair of eyes to help out.

Hey is there a local hobby shop in Ithaca? Where do you get you kits and stuff from down there? I travel that way a lot in the summer, down to the parks and passing through to Van Etten to race! 

Most Impressive! You took an average ordinary older kit and made it EXTRAORDINARY!

To me taking an older kit like this and turning out such fantastic work is really what I enjoy to see. PLease show us more of your work in the future!

Yeah we're real close ,alright...just a short jaunt along RT 34.

We have a small hobby shop on STATE STREET( PROVIDENCE HOBBIES) and that's about all. They carry a small amount of a lot of different items . There's stuff for model RR, scenery  and some paint and glue, fantsy figures and paint, a small plastic model selection, some large scale car kits and they have some rc planes hanging from the cieling. I guess you could say they're eclectic. All of the small local hobby shops in the area seemed to have disappeared over time so this one was a surprise. Unfortunately, I dont need to accumulate any more stuff so, I don't frequent the shop much.

When I do buy things I get them  from a variety of sources both mail order and on line, which makes it way to easy!

Some of my fovorites are: SQUADRON( when they have a real sale) , HOBBYLAND(which has good selecton, prices and good sales), GREAT MODELS WEB STORE, INTERNET HOBBIES, TIGER MODELS, GRANDT LINE(I ordered direct from them and got all of the nuts bolts and rivets that I need) and I keep the BARREL STORE in my favorites in the hope that the $ exchange value improves.
