WOW, Man, it looks llke you rode it around some before assembling it! Laugh [(-D]

It really does look real!

Geez, 1/9 scale? That must be huge! I'll bet the detailing you can do on it is just about limitless?

The weathering looks amazing so far. How far are you planning to go with her? HT's, ignition wiring etc etc. As doog says in this scale your only limited to your imagination.

I tried to find a piccy i have of half a dozen or so Zundaps lined up with Brits sat on them. Apparantly they were left in North Afrika after the Germans beat a hasty retreat. I seriously wanted one of these 1:1 scale. They had a driven rear sidecar wheel. Awesome.

Thanks for all the kind comment.

Indeed its large, and i have been watching as many pictures as possible to search for details that aren`t on the model (yet).

So any pictures of real Zundapp`s are welcome Smile [:)]

I have that same kit as well as the BMW (with sidecar). I've had it for close to twenty years now, and just never have taken the time to go ahead with it. But I gotta do something soon as the boxes are starting to dry rot! Still the issue with the tires has always nagged me. Did you have any issues with them? Or did you happen to find away to seal them? Anyway I've also been looking for a couple kits in the same scale of the WWII Harleys and maybe even the Triumph. I bought them after seeing a BMW done at the IPMS Nats many moons ago.

I had no problems with the tires, only the tires from the Zundapp are hollow and the tires from the BMW are solid.

To get a realistic look just sand the tires with fine sandpaper to get a matt surface and they are fine.

By the way i just finished the tank.

Yet another excellent job Karel,

You really must share with us your methods for producing the effects you've gained on both this and the wonderful Triumph 3H you posted earlier [For those that haven't it's more than worth checking out].

I'm looking forward to seeing this one come together - please keep posting your progress.

Here you go Guy..............

Sorry that was probably my fault for mentioning it and not providing the link.

Karel had placed it within the Auto's section??

                               /forums/879266/ShowPost.aspx

It really is worth shuffling over there.............. Crikey only knows why Karel hasn't got a list of plaudits as long as the forum itself???

That bike looks great. Hate to see this thread fall off the board. Any more progress? Where did you find this kit at? I would love to pick up a large scale German motorcycle.

I found the kit on Ebay, about one year ago.

Sometimes there is a kit for sale on Ebay, just check regularly.

Today i mounted the frontfork and the tank, it`s starting to look like a motorcycle now...

The rear fender, license plate and the taillight are mounted.

I found a picture of a full size Zundapp and discovered a little name plate on the rear fender, maybe the vehicle identification number i don`t know.

Because this decal is not in the kit, i made it myself which is not easy because it`s only 2 milimeter high and 8 milimeter long Grumpy [|(].

Anyway i am happy with the result.

Wow! That motorcycle is perfect! Everything looks so realistic! The real leather on the seat looks great, and perfectly in scale. The chipping and everything else looks fantastic, just awesome work.

Im lost for superlatives, that exhaust just looks real!!!! How did you get the finish on the thing. If it wasnt for the Humbrol pot i swear i was looking at the real thing.

The rust is a combination of pastels and oilpaint, after that i sprayed on a coat of matt clear varnish. When it was completly dry, i rubbed it lightly with my fingertops to get some shiny edges, which gives a more realistic look.

Very nice Patas and welcome to the forum. Hopefully Foxbat wont mind you posting your pics.

Foxbat. On your frame, how did you produce such realistic chipping? Did you actually chip the top coat off? As there looks like there is depth to them. Many thanks.

Indeed i won`t mind posting pics of other large motorcycles Cool [8D]

About the chipping; the color of the plastic is exactly the good color (German Grey), so yes i chipped of the paintcoat with a knife to the bare plastic.

I am just lucky with the color of the kit....... Wink [;)]
