"The Hunters GB" (2/1/08 to 6/1/08)

Soooo close! Unfortunately I ran out of time to finish my Jagdpazer before the deadline, I was down to just the weathering and that was it. But along came my daughters graduation so everything had to be put to the side. But thats cool just being part of the GB gave me the motivation to keep going and pushing me to be a better modeler. unfortunately I only get to build on the weekends in the evening so I obsess about it all week long. Thanks guys for sharing all of your work and techniques

Wow dupes, thanks for the assistance!  I really appreciate it!  Yeah, I've got JMN's Hobby Square already on my agenda!!  Also Lil's in Makati City!!  From what I've heard, nearly everything in PI is way cheaper, so I'm crossing my fingers!!  I just wonder what kind of selection they have!

I WISH it was my work sending me there (I'm a District Site Trainer for a major satellite TV company)!!!   Actually, I just happened to partner with some relatives trying to start a technology based business in the Phillipines.  We need to meet with some prospective business partners, suppliers and clients, but most of the work will be done in 2-3 days.....the remaining 5 days is for models and...whatever (that's the scary part) !

Ha! What a coincidence, we both built the same subject as our seventh armor kit!

I checked out your review of the DML StuH. 42 -- very useful, very detailed, looks a tremendous kit. The Magic Tracks are a big advantage too... The price is steep, though -- adding the Cavalier resin set to one of the Tamiyas already in the mail would bring me in for about half. Oh, and some grills too! Hmmm... Maybe later for the DML! It would certainly lend itself to a dio of a repair unit with the roof removed and a crane pulling the gun -- based on the photos in the S/S Walk Around book.

Pretty ironic eh?  Isn't amazing how quickly we can get our skills up with great resources online? I know I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am now without this wealth of modeling knowledge that's being shared here! 

By the way, you can get the StuH 42 Ausf. G for way less than what is listed in the review.  I have to use MSRP when submitting my reviews.  I picked the kit up online for only $49.50.  It really as a killer kit!  I can't believe how far kits have come, even in just the past 5 years!  We live in a golden age of modeling my friends. 

That StuG Ausf. G walk around is a great reference.  The review I wrote up on that book was only my 2nd review for Armorama.  (I know, I know... another shameless plug.  )

Hang in there Doug!  We all face those times when we can't enjoy the hobby as much as we'd like.  I also ran out of time, so did a lot of others.  The good thing is there are alway GBs being started up so find another one and join!!  I'm going to join espins1 & Spectre's  "Red Storm on the Reich/Battle of Berlin GB when it starts in a few months!  I'm sure Tigerman will have another GB soon!  You can also join some of the GBs that are already in progress like the "Big Cats" and "Vintage Armor" GBs, just to name a few!

BTW, I was also building a Jagdpanzer!!  Your's was waaaay farther along then mine though!  Finish her up and post some photos!  We still love seeing them panzers!!

Despite my poor performance, I'd like to conjure up another or perhaps join in on someone elses GB. I need to get a few builds out of the way first. I thought September would be a nice time to start one up. Perhaps the aforementioned Italian Campaign, or Monte Cassino GB. I have other ideas as well.

I'd have to agree, Scott, the skills shared here and the examples we can readily see are one of the most powerful means for communicating ideas that's ever come along. You can see tutorials in a more assymilable form than watching a master modeller at work at a club meeting, and magazine articles may be either at too simple a level or perhaps not clearly enough written. Also, they're not intreractive!

I'll keep an eye open for the DML StuH on the web and such -- if I can find it at a good price I'll certainly want to build it!

Thunderbolt379 - very nicely done, good paint job and construction.

Scott/espins - great job as usual, love your wash, really gives the model some depth. Camo job is superb. the whole thing is superb LOL, even the pics! I want to (yet again) thank you also for posting such detailed WIP/finishing instructions & Info, VERY valuable to us newbies. I also notice the attention you give to various details, like the pioneer tools. I will bookmark your build to consult when I do my Stug :)

frangkly - Great job, I like the "gun down", like an injured beast. Look forward to your completed project some day!

Hermesminitarures - LOVE the weathering as well as the construction. Love the base too.. simple but very effective.

Chris - Love your LAV, you are quite the "modern" master, really enjoy your work!

As for mine, I am still trying to fix my AB compressor, but plugging away at the construction, scratch build some towcables and painting of 'externals". Will post pics to get some comments/feedback...  if you finish late, can you still claim the badge?
