Marder III Sd.Kfz 139 PIC's
Posted by panzerguy on Sunday, March 9, 2008 10:57 PM

Here's some pic's of my Marder III that I built for Tigerman's Hunter's GB.

Still have to add some crew equip.and replace the kit track's with some AM one's but other than that it's pretty much done. There's some wip pic's over in the GB section if you'd like to check it out.

Brilliant Marder Panzerguy and a great contribution to our GB. Comments already made over there too.

Outstanding, inspiring, gorgeous!

There's not a thing I can criticize or suggest improvement on--your figures are among the absolute best I've ever seen too; the facial painting and expressions are perfect--P E R F E C T!

I am VERY impressed!!!! Bow [bow]Bow [bow]Tongue [:P]

panzerguy:  Drop Dead Gorgeous!!!...never thought I'd use that expression for a model (that wasn't a female)  The whitewash is excellent, the tracks are EXTREMELY realistic, nice work on the road wheels and I have to agree with the doog that the expressions on the faces of the figures are perfect.  My ONLY comment is on the rust work...you may want to "streak-it" versus "pool it", especially on the front vertical surfaces...Great work overallBow [bow]

Doog  You used the P word now I'm going to have to find a new hobby.....NOT!! I'll be using you'r snow toot for my dio with this one.

SMJ   Thank's for the comment's, one thing, it's not rust on the front, their muddy foot print's

OhhhhhhhShock [:O]...I had a slight suspision it might be mud , based on the interior floor, but it seemed high up on the turret...OK, that makes the build even better!!!

Are you switching back to "Sew-prise" now?!...by the way, are you in my "Urban Armor" GB, I/we could use a guy like youBig Smile [:D]

Nicely done, the muddy footprints in the fighting compartment are a nice touch. Replacing the tracks will address the main shortcoming of the Tamiya supplied tracks in terms of sag/look and those figures definitely fit the bill for a winter scene. Thumbs Up [tup]

i think the work on your marder looks great.but there is one thing that caught my eye that would render this weapon useless.correct me if i am wrong but i don't understand how a falling block style breach can function with this type of gun mount?Oops [oops]

You might not understand it but it did work...the gun used in this Marder series was actually the captured 76.2mm Russian field gun, which the Germans captured by the hundreds in 1941 and rechambered to accept 75mm ammo...they did use them and they did work...the Germans had a high opinion of the gun and compared it favorably to the Pak 40...

wbill76 - Manny  Thank's for the great comment's.The track's will be replaced with some Fruil's

Detailfreak  I think Manstein covered it, Thank's Manny.

SMJ  The foot prints lead up to the driver's and radio operator's hatch's. Sew-prise is on the bench as I type and now you'r tempting me with another GB. Decision's,decision's.Mischief [:-,]

panzerguy:  With your dio' skills I thought "Urban Armor" would be right up you alley!!!  It's a pretty lengthy (8 months) build period, which doesn't even start until May 1st.  Am I tempting you even more now!?!?!Evil [}:)]
