Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby Gt 500

Hi all well I wont be giving this to my daughter. I will be glueing it together to finish it but after the third stripping and respray (must be something in the grey primer (its the only thing I cant get off (Ive used oven cleaner, break fluid, nitromors)))

The missus says dont be such a perfectionist she wont notice, you all know what I say to that.

Yeah I see what you mean.   Just ‘cause I’m totally in awe of your skills in this conversion; Doesn’t mean your any good at this stuff……..Yeah, Right.

Someday I’ll hope to be as courageous and inventive as you, in tackling modeling and scratch builds. But by then you’ll probably have moved on to the exciting world of weaving straw hats out of dried Bermuda grass.  Sigh

Hi all lots done on this, although it dosn't look like it (mostly taking apart what I did before and repainting in new colours,think I've sorted the body 

paintwork out.

hi all this is fighting me all the way, I bought some barrier coat and sprayed it with that then gave it a coat of gloss white and its reacted with the barrier coat, you cant really see from the pics but there are little wrinkles in the paint so Im hoping sanding back where the wrinkles are down to bare plastic and re spraying will solve it.

Well this is turning out to be a cool change.

So I'm going to convert this and give it to her for christmas, I've made a start

Well you have certainly done a good job on it so far, to me, even though it dosn't suit your criteria.

A step back and let'n time for the dust to settle will give your new *** later on. 

Just a thought (because I do this to myself all the time) maybe you should limit your approch to construction. For example, you started with opeing the door then later you mention showing the engine being removed. Sounds like going in too many directions at once. Deside on one approch, for now , get it done and try the other on the next model-wish I followed my own advice.

Hi all, here is the last update for a long time on this one

really not happy with this so I think I'm going to box it up and shelve it for a while, before I throw it at the wall, cant put my finger on whats turning me off it, I think its just the fact that nothing on it is really up to a standard I'm happy with, the paint job is not shiney enough the engine is really not one of my better weathering efforts (certainly not up to the bike standards) the door shuts lets face it are laughable and I've found out the doors open inside the wings not as I have them, it just all adds up to a piece of rubbish (yes it can all be rectified (fairly easily)) but the shine has gone off it for me and if I force myself to finish it I can see it taking a flying lesson.

Hi all, well whilst doing some weathering on the engine bay I started to think all this work on the engine and engine bay and you wont see any of it when its finished so, I thought, what about an engine hoist and doing it with the engine being removed, now my question is would it be possible to remove the engine and gearbox complete or would I have to separate them (which would then mean making a flywheel and bell housing and the splined shaft for the gearbox, also what else would be removed to get the engine out, I assume the injection system?

I'm planning on going as far as my meagre skill stretch.

I'm liking the detail under the hood. How far you gonna go with it?

Hi all well after a lot of retouching and smoothing I've got the dash on the Shelby satisfactory, its not great but it will have to do, I've made some break pipes from the sevo and added the vacuum pipe (not sure where it fits on this car but its usually on the inlet manifold somewhere)

Time to get clever, Ken. I know you can puzzle this out and make it work. Remember that the door wells are thicker in real life than they will be on that model because of the hinges.

Hi all, well ive had to change the hinge as it interferes with the inner panel, then guess what the inner panel dosent even fit (opened a whole bag of worms here) the inner panel is so far out I have loads of scratching to do ( I think revell didnt worry too much about the interior since the door are supposed to be shut so no one will see much of the interior, the rear door pillar sits at a diffrent angle to the door, ti dosnt reach the roof ( there is a gap of at least 1/8 of an inch) the front part where it joins the root of the window is about the same amount of gap, wont be doing this again in a hurry.

At first look I didn't know where you were going with the paint,but now,wow great job,keep it going.
