Beautifully done. I actually have a real Type IV 42WLA which unfortunately is in the shop at the moment. Very interesting to compare the civilian version - those fenders were unique to the Type VII bikes at close to the wars end, which would make sense for a post-war civilian bike. I wonder though, with war surplus WLAs available for next to nothing, how many of the civilianized versions actually sold?

Lookin' good - reminds me of the model I've been thinking to do. You see my pops had a resurected Indian back in the seventies. He sometimes told me about how he had to sell it when I was going to be born. Imagine a young man restoring an American bike in socialist Poland - no parts, almost no paints - that must have been something!

Bought 2 of the Type IV 42WLA at the Army Depot in Phila back in '59 for $50 each in a group deal. All the parts were packed in Cosmoline and had to be cleaned before assembly. I built one and kept the other for parts. Ran perfect for quite a few years before married life with kids pushed me into selling them. Sure wished I had them now. Heard that they could be worth a lot.

WillysMB, That's the figure I was given. They were both 100% original. Wonder what the unbuilt one would be worth.

A few years later, they had jeeps going for some insanely low amount but they were being sold in group lots too. We couldn't get enough guys together to swing the deal.
