This is a model I've started close to 15 years ago. I've managed to ruin the shell paint job the first time and got a second kit with all the decals to remake it.
I've painted this second shell and because of work and other modelling projects, it stayed in the "shelf of shame" for almost 10 years. After deciding to getting it back to the workbench, I've noticed that the clear coat I had applied was all cracked (at the time I wass using a generic lacquer gloss coat from motip if I remember correctly)! This lacquer dries really hard and so it is very brittle so I've stoped using it for my scale models (bit still like it very much for varnishing brass sheet that I use as labels for the bases of some models).
I decided to sand out most of the cracked clear coat and try to save the decals. I did not give up on this model simply because I had scratched built all the rear suspension elements, including the rear axis and differential housing. It was rewarding that I simply could not throw it away.
So here's a part that I start building more than 10 years ago and was just completed (it's the panhard rod of the rear suspension).
So all the undercarriage parts got a quick paint job and were fixed in place.
I also tried to had some dirt and grime to the bottom of the model, using Ammo's engine grime, engine oil and PLW dust products (all enamel based), applying them with brush, airbrush and sponge.
And here are two photos of the chassis on its wheels, showing the interior, completed some 10 years ago.
And here is the model shell. I'm presently aplying white colour everywhere there are problems. I still have to touch up the black areas and clear coat the whole thing.
I hope to finally complete it soon.
Cheers
