Seafoam Turquoise Metallic is a different in color than the picture shown. It is more of a teal color than a blue. Although the Auto Color Library shows the blue as Seafoam Turquoise. Maybe MCW got the shade wrong?

I painted the GTX this afternoon.
That is looking great. In the early 80's I had a 69 charger with a 440 and a 6pack. I remember trying to syncronize them. That is where I learned how to swear like a sailor. It was a real learnig experiance. Took 3 months to get it set correctly.

I decided to add more detail to my 440 6 pack. I used a piece of wire and some superglue and added the hose from the PCV valve to the carbs. Then I found my Shabo Tire Graphics and added Goodyear to the tires. I thought I had an extra set of water slide decals, but I must have used them elsewhere.

The 440 CID engine is complete and ready to be installed in the chassis. I added the air cleaner and decal and then I installed a STP Racing decal on the oil filter. The alternator has some clear red paint on the fins to represent the wire turnings on the armature. The wheels and tires have been further detailed and I still need to find tire decals in my stash that I know I have.
I started detailing the engine. I added my plug wires, fan belt with power steering pump and alternator and the fan. I had to make an ignition coil from a piece of round styrene stock and added a wire to it. The tires proved to be problematic, so I replaced them with a set from Revell and I will add some white letters to the tires.
Thanks disastermaster and Joe! The "floating" alternators and power steering pumps have always been a wonder to me as well. Dangling in mid-air. At least we can cover them with a hood so they are not seen, unless you have a hoodless car with an exposed engine!
I hear you on the ignition coils bit Mike. But hey.....that's what we've got spares for brother!
Another thing that gets my goat is the lack of alternator brackets on alot of these kits. Lately it seems like the modeling world is catching on by including these in the boxes. There aint nothing like the magical "floating" alternator. lol

Tonight I painted the engine, the distributor and cap and I made an ignition coil, painted it and wired it and the 6-barrel carburation. Now, you are asking why did I paint the 4-barrel and the 6-barrel intakes? I haven't decided which one I will use yet. Why they don't add ignition coils to these kits is beyond me.

This happens to a lot of people. They have something that means a lot to them and someone comes along and destroys it. That is a beautiful car!
In 1970 this was the exact car that I had. The only difference was wide Keystone Classic Mags, Goodyear white lettered tires and a slight lifted stance over the rear wheels.
I pampered it like a baby. It was an extremely beautiful machine to me, I loved it.
After I paid it off two years later, a little 'ol lady (not from Pasadena) destroyed it.
The more I looked at them, the more I didn't like the valve covers I had put on. I found a set that I liked better and while they are not 100% correct, they do look a lot better!

Spent a little time on the GTX this afternoon. I assembled the engine and lettered the tires. The engine had no valley pan of cover and the intake manifold just sat on top of a wide open area. I made a cover from a piece styrene and glued it in.
I like Cragar SS mags if I have them to add. These can be in short supply for me and sometimes the kit supplied wheels of a different design can be nice, too.

I now remember that the late Barry Fadden had given me a '68 Road Runner kit and I had swapped the parts for the Pro Street Coronet that I had swapped with another kit and...well, you get the idea. I had swapped this kit several times with a Pro Street kit (Coronet or Road Runner) and now I have settled on a stockish GTX.
This one should be fun to watch. Nice selection in wheels with the Cragar SS's. They're one of my all time faves as well.
