Getting the engine together...I decided to paint the engine block dark red  with gold valve covers and air cleaner.

It is a good thing that I put the wheels and tires on  to check the stance...low and behold the front passenger side frame rail was warped upward about 1/8 of an inch! So I  cut the front passenger side frame off with a cut -off wheel and clamped the front and rear chassis to the assembly table .I then glued a brace so that when cured the chassis will set level.

Oldermodelguy;

        The 58 first came out as a two in one kit. You could build the beautiful custom( In Blue) or the stock auto. One was shown as the Blue(Aqua( with a Bubble top. The stock auto as a black convertible, Then It re-appeared as Elvira, "Mistress of the Night" car. Then it re-appeared again as itself. The only thing that dissappointed me was with opening Doors, and Hood, why not the Trunk?

Great color combo for this car!  It''s going to look nice along with those wide whitewall tires.  Can't wait to see how it progresses.

Sweet build, Doc!  I like your colors, too, and the gold accents for the engine.

I look forward to your next update on this!

Best regards,

Brad

Thanks. My memory banks totally missed this one. And the thing is I built what I want to recall as a 58 but from AMT way back when. Though that was a convertable, no working doors and I  don't recall a hardtop option in the kit.. IDK except that was a long time ago. I remember painting it red with red and black interior. Maybe it was actually Monogram.

Well non the less non of that takes away from this thread.

"Doc", because your handle is Eugene Rowe.  He was a medic in Company E, 506th Parachute Infantry Regt, 101st Airborne Division.  Though, his was "Roe".  I thought your handle might have been a hat-tip to him.

Hey,

            That is still able to be found around once in a while. I bought one from a local Model Car Collector and it only cost me Twenty Bucks. The Bubble top was missing. It was the Mistress car, but, he swore it came with the Bubble top when he bought it! the "Mistress" car came with Spiderweb decorations for the Grille and other stuff. I built it stock.

           I don't believe it came with the bubble top, I wasn't going to pick a verbal duel over that, for sure!

Watch (or read the book) "Band of Brothers".  In the series, Doc Roe features prominently in the episode depicting the Battle of the Bulge. It's told basically from his perspective.

If you've never seen the series (or read the book), it's definitely worth it.

Looking good,loving the Y block ! The whole thing looks great but we just don't seem to see much Y block action around here and it's nice to see now and then.

Nothing to do with this particular thread, but everything to do with your forum handle.  But it's not important.
