Parts?
Posted by Tanker-Builder on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 7:20 AM

Yeah parts!

I have most of the interior parts and the two wings from Monogram's B-52. What can I build here? I also have the parts for four A/C carriers,( No Decks Though) and Many parts in an old forgotton parts box that fell off the closet shelf and on this old man's head yesterday.

Those parts are Armor and Car parts. What to do? A Flying Thingy, Floaty Thingy or Outer-Space thingy. Or how about a what If, B-52 swept wing type Post-Apocalyptic something or other. Any suggestions?

What carriers do you have? I might want them.

You never know what will come in handy in the future and for what project that might pop into someone's warped modeling mind.

Example:

I was thinking of posting the project down here too, but it's in the Science Fiction section as well as under nerds models in the upper sections.

Yeah,; what carrier parts .  .  .???

I'm needing things like that for my ALASKA project; elevators, and deck equipment, and, etc.

If you have a B-17 kit around, how about putting the -52 wings on it as a proposed intermediary between the -17 and the -52?

Hi Bill;

The carriers are what's left of a cut down Lindberg Carrier and the Bow section of a Revell one I think. The Charles De-Gaulle is under rescue at this point.

I may have a couple elevator platforms, the island off the Enterprise and a couple other things still laying around.

Straycat 1911 is doing a low deck conversion of the Alaska. I'm looking at a little more extensive rework.

So, I'll need elevator tracks, sponsons, deck equipment, etc. I'm working in 1/350, but any similar sized stuff may be usable.

I'll get together what I can find, I just might have some flight deck from Enterprise CVN 65 here somewhere it you want it and I have it  Let me know and send me your address.

It looks like you're making a assault ship, like they thought of doing to the Iowa class.

I ended up going into science fiction and came out with the Space Assault Ship Toronaga based on the IJN Musashi:

Sorry, didn't mean to leave the thread hanging .  .  .

Yes, an Alaska class helo-vtol Cruiser plus / interdiction assault ship / CBV whatever. As I said, I'm going for the 03 level flight deck aft with a hangar bay below.

What I'm not doing is the ski jump thing or 'V' deck configuration, though it may be a pseudo angle deck. That would enhance the capabilities without a lot of extra topside weight.

I'm looking at having a partial Marine air wing, without CH-53's or tilt-rotors (I'll leave them to the LHA's / LHD's / etc. as they are 'space expensive'. The ship will be able to support them, just not embark / store them.

I have been thinking of doing a assault type ship based on a Iown class battleship. I have the layout for three different versions when the Navy thought about doing this, but got sidetracked on other projects.  It might be time to revisit this again.

My original plan was just that; adding a hangar bay and half length flight deck on a modernized New Jersey kit. I got things started and then, as usual, life got in the way and then I basically ran out of g.a.s., and the box just sat on a shelf for a bunch of years. Now, I'm using pieces/parts from that kit to modernize the Alaska kit.

And .  .  . as the old song goes; "If I were a rich man .  .  ."     I'd have picked up the Alaska, and an LHD kit and simply combined the two. But I ain't that rich.
