Coming along nicely Philo!  Dirigibles are like mythical beasts or dinosaurs - they are magnificent creatures of a bygone era that defy comparison to anything extant today.

Okay I used up my "waxing poetic" allotment.

Didn't Max Pruss say that same thing right before his final approach? Sad

Magnificent work, Philo!

When you think about it!

What's the largest thing moved with the smallest motive power? the Zeppelins! Back in those days anyway!

Indeed!  It is the square-cube law in action.  Large ships are very efficient also, for same reason, but water viscosity (skin friction) is higher for water than air, plus even at slow speed there is some wave drag.

Yes they are very expensive, even the vac firm versions.I only had to pay 13 bucks for shipping, although it did entail a lot of bodywork.

That really looks good! I've done a few airships in smaller scales, but I'm not sure I could do justice to one that big.

Great work!

Even then, I have my doubts.  Charts that I have seen show LTA and large ships less energy per ton mile.  I'll have to look for that chart.
