Hi, justimagine!
No, I agree with all your points, but I still enjoyed it. I'm definitely with you on the speed issue: nothing blows the sense of scale more than "kibbles and bits" action, as I call it. The Ultraman series always had that problem.
The Akira Ifukube score from the 1993 Mecha-Godzilla was indeed powerful. I liked Michiru Oshima's new score , though I'd agree it's not as powerful, and is actually a recycling of her work on G X Megaguiras.
Actually, my favorite part of the newer flick was the opening sequence featuring the Maser attack in the homage to "Gargantuas." The score for that bit is cool, too.
Sad to say, nothing I've seen about the new G flick opening Dec. 13 has got me excited at all.
I'm sick of Mothra! And it's the same G design as last time. Nothing new.
Except: Kameba! From
Yog! The design is pretty much the same, just executed much more realistically.
But with everybody begging for a new Anguiras, I wonder why they picked Kameba? Anyway, the pix in this month's
Uchusen looked pretty cool. Would certainly make a nice kit!
