The next issue of CreatureScape is devoted to kaiju. And it looks like there are some great kaiju builders here. We are always looking for buildup articles on monster kits.

Howdy, creaturescape!
Looks like a cool 'zine ya got there.
As you can see, justimagine has an amazing collection of kaiju! Hopefully he'd like to submit something. The bulk of my collection is in storage back in the States, but I'll send ya a coupla pix.
If you need any help with Japanese or scopin' out what's in the shops here, lemme know, and I'll do my best to help you out.

Looking forward to that kaiju issue!

Thanks-J Hulk.

The first issue of CreatureScape is due out for mailing on OCT. 16. #1 focuses on King Kong and the Creature From the Black Lagoon. #2 is Kaiju; #3 is "Dinoland"; #4 is Universal Monsters; #5 is the Monsters of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (i.e. B Movie Monsters).

We also have essays, movie reviews, kit news, all sorts of stuff. Because it is published on CD ROM you get hundreds of pictures and way more than a traditional print mag.

The cheap pre-order prices technically end today, but I won't make the change for another 6-10 hours.

J-Hulk.

Just saw the newest Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla. A let down in my opinion. I don't thing the effects are as good as GMK or Gamera. The design of the new robot is quite good- though I think the 93 version looks more powerful (The great score of that film helps too- this score lacks power) Mecha G moves great- but way too fast for the scale. I also never get the since that it is being piloted. Godzilla has not been changed for the better- the head is way to small and the 'cobra hood" too pronouced for me. He stands there and takes the firepower like a dummy too much- interesting how he's no clear winner in this film. What'a you think buddy- am I too much of a winer?Disapprove [V]

Hi, justimagine!
No, I agree with all your points, but I still enjoyed it. I'm definitely with you on the speed issue: nothing blows the sense of scale more than "kibbles and bits" action, as I call it. The Ultraman series always had that problem.
The Akira Ifukube score from the 1993 Mecha-Godzilla was indeed powerful. I liked Michiru Oshima's new score , though I'd agree it's not as powerful, and is actually a recycling of her work on G X Megaguiras.
Actually, my favorite part of the newer flick was the opening sequence featuring the Maser attack in the homage to "Gargantuas." The score for that bit is cool, too.
Sad to say, nothing I've seen about the new G flick opening Dec. 13 has got me excited at all.
I'm sick of Mothra! And it's the same G design as last time. Nothing new.
Except: Kameba! From Yog! The design is pretty much the same, just executed much more realistically.

But with everybody begging for a new Anguiras, I wonder why they picked Kameba? Anyway, the pix in this month's Uchusen looked pretty cool. Would certainly make a nice kit!

Has anyone made a decent live-action gundam type movie? Looks to me like a huge potential there for a great effects film- just imagine what ILM could do with that! RobotJox is a pretty bad flick- but some of the effects work was amazingly real looking- and all done before CGI. (Amazing what you can do with some non-union effects guys in the desert with some large scale models)

Yeah, Robot Jox had some moments I appreciated.
Although it's not quite Gundam, there are reports about two upcoming mecha-based projects in this month's Uchusen:

Tetsujin 28-Go will be released as a film next fall. The design looks exactly as it did in the manga and anime.
Check out: http://www.tetsujin28.jp/

Kawakita Koichi is also working on some show called Chouseijin Granseiza-, which looks like some kinda mecha-based action robot business.

Kawakita also did a film called Gunhed in the early 90s, which was all live action, tank-type robot fighting action.

There have been many Gundam and Macross animated films, of course, with some of the latest Macross films using very photorealistic CG for some of the action scenes.

I've heard something about Neon Genesis Evangelion being made into a live action film in the US.
Transformers too, no?

Hi, Kairi!
Would love to see your kaiju pix.
Can you tell me more about the "Super Premium 94?" Are you talking about G from "Space Godzilla" (1994)?

Ooooooh yeah! I remember that big boy. Saw them around, but I never picked one up. Nice piece!
It is G from Space Godzilla, as you can tell by the name Moge-Goji (Mogera was also in that movie).

By the way, gonna go see Godzilla X Mecha-Godzilla X Mothra: Tokyo SOS sometime this week. One of my kaiju buddies saw it said it was pretty good. My hopes aren't too high, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it nonetheless!

Hi Kairi!
The new G started December 13 here in Japan (I live in Osaka).
Do they make it to the big screen where you live? I think in the States they just go direct to video a coupla years after Japanese release.
