I noticed the comment on the last page about figures of police and firefighters and such. I agree with that and I can't tell you how many female police officers, rescue workers and paramedics I've seen.

I'd just like some decent female figures that aren't the pin-up girl, or porn posture type.

The only one I know of is the Zvesda 1/35 soviet sniper team:

I think it would be good if someone made a good selection of 1/35 figures with various poses with around 10/12 in the kit, for more variety of poses and better use in dio's

JTF-2 would be cool, Revell makes some 1/72 KSK figures and a whole line of modern 1/72 scale figures.

I would really like to see some truly modern Special Operations figure sets.  Dragon used to do such a great job with those.  From Dragon I'd love to see Modern Special Forces (preferably 5th SFG operating in Iraq/Afghanistan), Modern US Army Rangers (OIF), Modern US Army Airborne Infantry (OIF), etc.  The ones that are available are very dated even by "modern" standards.

In 1/35th I would like to see more available Italian figures especially for North African use. Along with that, support weapons and equipment for Italian forces.

I totally agree with civilian figures, not uniformed.

Would love soemthing in around 1/35 scale, or even 1/48---great for doing anairshow or static demo!!!! Lots of figs out there of girls in 1/6 scale but thats another subject....

Also, would like to see a line of modern accessories for these. years ago Tamiya and Fujimi came out with pit crews and girls for the sidelines, even thier biker figures havent been updated in ages...and then these are 1/24 scale.  Modern digital cameras, cell phones, laptops, etc would be the real kicker ticket, and even the resin companies have not latched onto the latest trend.  Custom Dioramics had a line of stuff for cars years ago that cold be used with figures, but that stuff gets dated pretty quickly...

The modeling world has a serious lack of japanese figures. Aside from a few kits from verlinden and warriors, the only ones I can find are the two sets produced by dragon and tamiya. Has anyone else noticed that most people only seem to care about the european theatre in WWII?

Yes, more vietnam and modern figures, please, in both 1/35 and 1/48. I've been looking around for vietnam figures, there are only like 3 sets of vietcong, and i've seen the same American sets used countless times in dioramas because they're the only ones available. Also, I've seen some figure conversion sets by verlinden. They offer a variety of extra heads and limbs in order to make your figures more unique, maybe more of those would be nice.

More styrene, production figures al la Dragon, Tamiya, Trumpeter, etc. of anything other than German. i.e. all of the figure types mentioned earlier.

There are already plenty of german offerings. What we need more of is the other armies and personel in packages and poses. You can already find just about anything in resin or metal now but this can be cost prohibitive. At anywhere from $8 -  $10 ea that can be expensive as opposed to a set of the above for $7.50 for 4-6 figures.

Some Australian figures would be good, both WW2 and modern. Also a good modern weapons set with all the modern weapons and fittings wouldnt go astray as well.

Deputy Brad;

For World War II figures of Canadians you have to check out the following

www.ultracast.ca - Great figures in Resin

www.friendshipmodels.com - Dougs Originals - Great Figures in Resin

Now on the plastic side of things

Tamiya

35223-700 - British Infantry On Patrol - Nice kit of 5 Figures

Dragon

6055X - Canadian Infantry - Nice set of 4 Figures

6023 - Red Devils - Nice set of 4 Paratrooper Figures

6199 - 2nd SAS Regiment - Nice set of 4 Figures

6212 - British Infantry - Great set of 6 Figures!

Master Box Ltd.

MB3512 - British Troops CAEN 1944 - Good Set of 4 Figures (2 Commandos and 2 Infantry)

Now don't let the "British" on the box fool you. The equipment used by the Canadian army during the Second World War is the same. The main difference as far as modelling goes is the colour of the Battle Dress Uniform, Canada's uniform was more Olive than Khaki in colour. Use good references and you can't go wrong.

The Para and SAS figures are great too if you intend to build a diorama or vignette of 1st Can Para. The Canadians wore the same kit as the British Para Regiment so the conversion is minor and simply in the marking schemes. Again good reference is essential.

As far as Modern Canadian figures....Well not yet. But, you can convert U.S. figures with minor mods to pockets and field gear to make your own.

Hope this helps.

I don't know where you are on the face of the globe, but just a reminder HERITAGECON 1 - Canadian Modellers at their best! The show will be at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in February. Check www.warplane.com for the details under coming events.

Cheers;

Gregory

BTW does anybody know if there are any kits of any Canadian soldiers? WWII or modern? I'd really like to see some modern Canadian soldiers. Canada has an army too.

How about a totally new figure line?  Like police and firefighters...that would make a whole new branch of model building...be neat to have a cop doing a carstop, or a firefighter going in to a building...in all scales

Yep, in 1/24-1/25 & 1/32-1/35 that would be great, then there would be something to put with the handful of emergency vehicle kits out there. The only firefighter figures I know of are German which I find kind of funny, the Germans even dominate the modern civilian figure market. Whistling [:-^]

A good set of 1/35 aircraft firefighters in the baked potato suits and some PJ's would be nice too.

Its a little too specific to be a big problem, but I noticed that nobody makes a 1/35 LCM crew that actually looks like their alive.  The trumpeter one Im having to use for my Omaha diorama is just standing perfectly still, not ducking or anything.

Usually, small boat and landing craft crews would find it difficult to remain standing with heels together.  Also, if a boat is running up on a hostile beach, I'm sure the crew would be a little less nonchalant.

There is certainly no shortage of the miniatures and weapons your after in 1/72 scale!

The last batch of miniatures I commissioned included a US Army paratrooper officer firing a 45!

Candyflip, this is a great place to be, you will find lots of help here.  May I suggest that you start a thread about the figures you seek.  Title it in a way that makes it clear what the subject of the thread is.  This should get your question more exposure and a better chance of being answered.  Have a good one.Smile [:)]

Welcome!!! I havent seen it, but it sounds interesting. Feel free to post pics when you do him. I've developed an interest in the Plains Wars since I found out I had a relative die at Liitle Big Horn.  I keep looking for a cav. man falling from his horse.  That's what happened to Benjamin.  Horse ran at the indians and not away.

Hi, i'm new to the form so hello fellow modellers. been away from the hobby for about 10years, but i recently got interested again when i dug out some old military modelling and finescale modeler mags and books i had hidden away, but anyway i would like to see more American civil war figures preferably 120mm scale, there were none back then. i want the verlinden US cavalryman and horse to start me back off again. could someone please tell me if they have seen this figure if he's from the civil war or base on cavalry fighting on the plains in the west!!.  and if so how does the uniform differ from a union cavalryman or a US cavalryman.

cheers.

`if i should die, think only this of me/that there's some corner of a foreign field/that is for ever england.

I'd like to see some and a variety of male and female civilian figures more. Though I do like the challenge of transforming the military figures to civilian. But would be nice to just be able to buy scale model civilian figures at times for those non-military scale model projects.

Maybe some camelbacks and body armor, too, not web gear holdovers from the '60.  They can have various items like drop platforms for the leg and so on.
