Thanks, guys. KC, the other pattern I had goin' on jus' looked a little too anachronistic, and more like tartan or a 'tablecloth' than proper plaid for this period. The striped pattern i've used looks more homespun to me, and works better. Paintin' tartan lookin' patterns on ancient british figures is a common error, it is very easy to end up with somethin' like this. Personally, I feel there must be a distinction made between the 'tartan' look, and a more crude lookin' plaid. My references show this.
