Perhaps he met a fabulously beautiful and rich woman looking for a modeler and ran away with her, totally forgetting us poor slobs?

Couple of sources on the M14 for you - Academy's Israeli Defense Forces kit and Dragon's US Snipers set.  Don't know of any other sources for them, sorry.

1/35 scale FN FAL's.  I can't find the Italeri modern wpn's set any where, and I need lots of them.  I mean lots!  Like 20+.  Anybody have any ideas on where I can get some on the cheap?  I really need these for my modeling projects.  Any help would be great.

I just looked at a box of modern weapons that had them in it while ago. Think it's from Dragon. I also noticed that it had an RPD and three or four different machine guns too. But the RPD was all I was interested in at the time. Also needed to find a twelve gauge shotgun and an M14 rifle, but the kit lacked these. Should you need more data I'll drop by and get the kit numbers for you.

Count me in on this one friends.

I usually only jump online on the weekends so, I will look through all the links Outlands and Rudi posted and maybe come up with an idea or two. I am attracted to the chalenge and level of difficulty of this GB. Should be VERY interesting.

Also need info on the A63 Pack radio.  I have my people in SA looking for me and a friend in Sri Lanka too.  Outlands you will need this info for you "Stick" Dio.  The stick leader carried one, either on his hip, or in his pack.  Depened on the individual.

Find me another 1/35 civilian pick-up truck from the 70's to the 90's and I'll gladly do just that. Big Smile [:D]  Yeah right, it would be easier to convince Finescale modeler that they should do articles on nothing but armor, than to find another.  I only found that one with the generous help of a forum member.

I've already got most of my stuff done (technical and 2 figures, plus the diorama is at around 75-80%, so I'll be happy to join, but all that's left is a couple figures and some dio work.  Probably take me a while with my other stuff I'm working on though, so I'll be glad to join.

Well gents, that's it for me and my posting.  I could be here for days on end, and not get anything I want to do done.  I hope this helps, and lets talk more on the Group build.  I can post some on the congo, 1960-1965, a few on Biafra, and on the Portugese in their wars in Africa.  Let me know.

SSt (et al), here's apic of one pattern of webgear

I have the belt from this kit - wish I'd managed to snag an entire set, dangit.  There's a Dragon set of WWII Brit guys who are carrying shoulder bags very much like this one, too.  I've got some ideas for the rest of it that I need to try out, too.

You know I'm in.  Too many ideas yet to own up to what I'm going to build just yet, tho.  Since most of my projects tend to come from pics I see, the more research I do, the more projects will suggest themselves to me!  Odds are, I'll be doing a Rhodesian SAS dio from an article - they are in RENAMO fatigues carrying combloc weapons, blowing up a fuel-farm in Mozambique, after being hauled in on SA naval vessels.  Then of course there's the straight RLI foot-patrol in the bush and the converted Universal Carrier doing convoy guard-duty...

Let's work on securing a good base of research info before we really nail down anything on the GB.  That way, we can catch more people, as they start looking at the info we accumulate and they say, "Wow - I like that (whatever is in the pic)!  Lemme sign on for that before someone else does!"  Also prolly need a decent run-time to account for the extra research and locating and obtaining (or making) kits/items that are obscenely rare, obscure, or unusual.

It sounds like an excellent group build.  Good luck with it!  Few years ago, I met a guy who used to work for a company called Executives Outcome and he spent quite some time in Africa working as an operative.  Very interesting gentleman and learned a lot from him.

All right.  If someone will coach me through how to post pictures, I will start a group build.  I will need help with this though.  Who's with me?

http://youtube.com/results?search_query=Rhodesia  Here is for Rhodesia.

Look around on there, and you will find a lot of stuff, on these subjects.  Under SADF watch the last domino.  All 5 parts.  It is very good.

I will try and figure out how to post pics on this site too.  I can scan some stuff for the webbing and post it too.

I'll have to do some more research as well before I jump in. Maybe I can do something on the cheap. A figure and small base perhaps?

I vote Rudi should head it up since he seems to have the most expertise in this area.

Let us not jump the gun yet gents.  Although a very good idea, I am still deep in research mode.  Aircrft, and waterborne would be good, I have choppers, and AC used by all Nations concerned  from 1960-1994.  Ah Hell, lets go for it.    No time limit.  Lets see how many bites we get.  You want me to be ring leader or do one of you want to set up to the podium?  Everything will be included.  Fig's, AC, Helo's, Soft skins, waterborne, and armor.  Let us see what happens.

Then you figure in that the SADF had its own webbing made, eventually.  Far as I can tell, there's no one else that ever used it, either.  I'm trying to figure out how to best replicate it - and am fortunate enough to have a real piece of it in my collection.

Hey, between Rudi's SADF, Ian's Somali Technical, and my Rhodesian projects, we need to work out a "Brushfire Wars" group-build! Big Smile [:D]

Oh Hell YEah! \m/ Thumbs Up [tup] I'm down for that!

I'm having no luck searching for the SADF combat web gear. Could you point me in the right directon for some good pics of the stuff? I am interested in maybe trying to replicate some of it in 1/35.
