A short time ago at workbench far, far away............................

Hello,

this is my first go at a sci-fi subject............so go easy on me!!

Two 1/72 scale Fine moulds  X-wings built OOB with a home made display base. I was trying to re-create the Death Star battle at the end of episode IV.

This project is something I've wanted to build for a long time and I had a great time doing it! I know its not the same as the movie, but its something cool for my display shelf, thanks for stopping by and having a look.

Darren.

For a first scifi build my only comment is don`t do any more. Competition like this I don`t needBig Smile [:D]

Excellent work Daren. The way the piping and building lines run in the direction of flight gives a definite impression of speed.  Next time try drybrushing/blurring the paint in that direction to break up the outline more gives an even greater expression of the world wizzing past your cockpit.

As for stopping by and having look, one of the best wastes of my time I`ve had all day. Thumbs Up [tup]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Wow, very nice work!

I've had a similar idea in the back of my head since I acquired the FM Y-Wing but I'd like to do a trench scene, even though the Y-Wings didn't attack alongside the X-Wings and FM doesn't do a Darth Vader TIE Fighter in 1/72.

But enough of that, your diorama is simply fantastic.  Kudos all the way around!

Many thanks Steven, I too want to do a trench scene with Y-wings, but I need to get hold of a second kit before I get stuck into that build.

I am already thining of the display base though.........Whistling [:-^]

I've been watching that one progress. ( Lots of hidden pictures aboard the ship you know)

Glad to see it done in a most glorious example of expert craftsmanship! I am a big StarWars fan as well. Now all we need is for you to do a Princess Leia slave girl ( my favorite) and place her on the bow of the ship!

Thanks Dave! I have been a Star Wars fan since '77 and have always wanted to have a crack at an X-wing dio in one form or another, I'm pleased with the way this one turned out.

Increadible piece!  You did a hell of a job, I wish I could do something half that good.   The only thing I would add is maybe some blast damage to the turret and hull.  Just a minor issue.  Great diaroma, period.

"Lock S-foils in attack position!"

Wow!  A fantastic dio, great, really great scratchbuild!  Can't wait for the trench scene, either.

Any WIP shots of the barrels of the turret, and the inside of it?  That is what I am interested in!
