Hi all.This is my first real go at anything sci-fi (well, painting it ).This ship's from Ban Dai's Star Blazers series and is E.D.F Battleship Borodino.I built this kit about 6 years ago when returning to the hobby, so it ain't put together too well.I've sanded off the major seams, etc... and replaced missing bits with scratch built ones.I'll probably do another soon, so this will be good practiceOnce it was all together, I gave the ship a base coat/primer coat of Tamiya German Grey Acrylic.When dry, I added a lightened grey/blue shade. This was concentrated around the inner pannels of the ship resulting in a pre-shaded effect.Next was brighter colours (as per the box art)I'll leave this to dry now before attempting to do a pin wash along the panel lines.Any comments, feedback, advice or tips appreciated.Thanks.

It looks good so far. I'm not sure that I would do the seams though, I've always had trouble with that.
What's the scale and where did you get it?
It looks a bit like the Andromeda, which is one I'd like to find in 1/500th.

Thanks guysikar01 - I don't think the seams would provide too much of a problem if I'd done them before assembly. Problem is that if I attempted it now, I'd damage the kit. Something I'll definitely address next time round. I picked this kit up off ebay years ago (when there were bargains to be had . Not sure about scale. It's about the same legnth as a 1:35 Panther Tank.Instead of a normal pin wash, I decide to do the panel lines using a fine tipped pencil. This seemed to work pretty well. I've also faded the yellow and added some smoke effect using diluted flat black. With the barels being so small, there was not much chance of drilling them out, so I just painted the tips black. Finally, some gloss red was added to the side ports. At this point I'll call her done.Again, this was more of an exercise in painting than anything else, and to that end I'm fairly pleased.Comments and feedback always appreciated.thanks for looking.Jurgen.
