This is for those who asked whats next. Not scifi, as I said waiting on funds and store restocks so heres whats on my bench. You will see Dragons 1/35 Firefly VC, Dragons 1/35 Panther D Kursk, AFVs 1/35 M40 Big Shot, a conversion of Italeris 1/35 M-925 5ton truck, Johans 69 SCRambler, Tamiyas 1/48 Zero, and a spares box Panther pill box. WARNING PIC HEAVY. So just keep the other forums for progress on these. Happy to answer any questions
Well SLW I am not sure. I wanted to try my hand at the 1/144 scale Geara Zulu. Was inspired by some photos to build it German style. This however would require purchasing it, the Kampfer, and the Geara Doga. Local hobby shops do not stock many Gundams and I couldnt seem to find ALL of them in one place online. So right now thats on hold. Heard rumors of a 1/100 scale Geara Zulu but as of right now all I have seen is a prototype pic. As GM said Ive been knocking around ideas for more Tierens. But thats all Im saying. For right now while I wait on US sites to get restocked and for funds to get restocked keep a check on the Armor and Auto forums
So modelbuilder whats next if you dont mind me asking
Guys, modelbuilder had this puppy @ work today. The photos do not do this build justice. To see it in person and smoke over all the little touches he applied to this build, modelbuilder knows how to make a Gundam come alive. He has been kicking around some ideas about his next adventure w/this Gunpla, you will be blown away to say the least. But do not want to give away his ideas. I hope to add one to my stash, just as he said, this kit lends itself to an assortment of mods. Again, nice job MB
SLW 45 Thanks guys And yes it got here today just starting to look at some of the parts Hope to get started tonight or tomorrow but might have to wait for the weekend Question I dont own an air brush yet any suggestions on a good way to paint this guy?
Thanks guys

Yeah, I'm in the same boat--Just hand paint the parts on the sprue and after assembly, touch up the gaps between the parts and where the sprues attached.
The hardest part of flying isn't flying...it's landing.

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to your build. Like you this was my first Gundam and I feel I couldnt have pucked a better one. The Tieren lends itself so well to customization. Dont be afraid to experiment. I used parts from several different 1/35 scale tank kits to create a heavy assault version
Hello SLW 45, glad to see another Gundam builder and look forward to your posting of the Tieren. Can never have enough of them going @ same time!
Really like it
Mine should be here tomorrow cant wait to get going
Hop it turns out half as nice Looking forward to more of your work
WOW Really turned nice, eer I mean, mean looking. Great job MB. I gotta get on the ball and get mine finished, got another calling out and I will not start it until done w/the RX-78. Whats next f/MB?
Yes G.M. Ive been away for a while but have gotten things done, actually gotten the whole thing done. I reached the point where I felt the weathering was good but not overdone. Added a little turf to the feet just to that added depth. Painted the vision blocks, AMD, and site on the bazooka. Got everything flat coated. Just need to do a little touchup. Well here it is.
Been 5 days since you last posted, need my modelbuilder fix!
Looks great too me modelbuilder.
Well here is more progress in the weathering process. Ive added gunmetal, some dull silver, and orange rust. The color is dulled down nicely. What do you guys think? Is the rust overdone?
Great, I thought I had come across as trying to tell you how to do what you do, but you are correct, I too welcome all comments, good and bad as long as done in good taste. That is what a Forum is about, and not who is right or wrong. I have left many Forums because of that very thing. Nobody likes a "know it all" that his way is the only way. I was involved for years with a Forum that a individual thought it was his job to disagree w/everything you posted and no one stopped this jerk. I stopped posting. Their loss, not mine! Then I found this wonderful group of guys here, must say I am happy with the attitudes and gentleman like conduct from all. That tells me this is a class act to be apart of.
No not at all. Points, critiques, and questions are always welcome. Didnt mean to come across as offended
modelbuilder Well G.M., I still have a lot of detailing to do. The washes were on my beginning step for weathering.
Well G.M., I still have a lot of detailing to do. The washes were on my beginning step for weathering.
Looking great Modelbuilder. Like the effect left by the washes. Just one question, I understand the blast areas w/rust from metal being exposed, but some are still black, a little metal color to show a recent hit would look good, and I also would in the future subdue the burnt areas with a dark dark gray w/black around the edges! Look @ smoke dis-chargers, seems too still have the rubber boot over the end to protect the charge, while serving on board tanks, these were never painted because the solvent would cause them to rot. They were normally semi-black, but Testors rubber paint is a dead match for rubber that has been exposed to the elements. Just my worth. Look forward to more. Man is it hot here, or is it hot early for this time of the year!
Well I have finished the washes on the Tieren. I started with a black oil wash to add depth then a burnt umber wash to add even more depth and detail. I puddled this wash in several areas and made sure the pigment was rather thick. This was done to impart the appearance of rust. Removed all the excess tonight after a 24 hour dry time. Will not be able to work on it anymore until tomorrow night. I plan on starting the dry brushing then, followed by some turf on the feet, and finally some finally "dirty" painting. should have it finished next weekend, I hope. Well heres the photos. Oh I may actually try MIGpigments for the first time on this one. I noticed today while at my LHS that he had some in the case.
So I guess it is safe to say, the MFS has had it's baptism of fire! Coming along well.
Well finally got back to work on the Tieren after a few days away. Added some battle damage and Future in prep for my washes.
Hey Modelbuilder, check out RX-78-5, I do believe that is a Gatling gun the MFS is carrying. But as you and I have discussed, good luck finding a 1/100 Tieren. The only one I have found is in Hong Kong w/a high ship rate. I like the recovery version we talked about. Looking forward to more photos...............
OK, where is the next photo of this bad boy?
Great job! The light green makes me think that that Tieren of yours is like a 'shore patrol' or base security unit. The tan joint is something I'd have never thought of, and looks awesome.
The reactive armor and smoke grenades add a unique touch to it, which adds to the 'base security' look.
You're right-that minigun sure is sweet, but no Gundam kit that I am aware of comes with a minigun of that type. There was a kit of one of the RX-78 varients that came with a larger minigun, but it wouldn't be usable on a Tieren, since it attaches to the Gundam's back. Wish I could be more help.
Man this is turning out to be one bad, watch your mouth. lol I really like you decided to stay w/the base color as the main color and the choice for the joints was dead on. I agree, you get a Marine feel for the whole effect. I think I like this better than a camo pattern. Have seen your magic you work on tanks, can not wait to see you weather this bad boy. The addition of the missile counter measure was just the final touch needed to give this walking tank the finishing touch!
Well here is this weekends efforts and the products of a return to the drawing board. I repainted my feeble attempt at digital camo then darkened the mixture and sprayed around all of the edges and various spots on the armor. To add visual interest I chose Panzer Afrika Sand Grey for the joints, mid torso, and bottom of feet. Looks kinda Marines dont ya think. That was not the intention. As you can see in the background the weapons have been painted and are drying. Also added a Missile Counter Measure Device to the left shoulder. This is from the same Abrams kit as the smoke dischargers. Ive really enjoyed this kit and plan on building several more, maybe an AA version, Heavy assault version, and maybe even and engineer version. I have attached a pic of another builders Tieren and was wondering if anyone can tell me which kits have that cool mini gun in them.
