    Not lying, I watched it again layer that evening after my post, spoiler alert.....IT'S STILL FUNNY

For me, it got funnier as time went on.  I rolled my eyes and thought “ugh!” when I saw it in the theater.  Now, it is one of my all-time favorite comedies.

I now feel the Schwartz flowing through me.  Time to finish the yard work!  Or is it the sugar rush from the Coke I just drank?

It's a fun movie to try to pick out all the parodies beyond the obvious like the original Star Wars triology (ANH, ESB, RoTJ).

If I remember, there was Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, Alien, probably more, but it's been years since I last watched the movie.

   Ya gotta watch it Rob, you won't be sorry.

The Rebel scum continue to make gains against the Empire!  I had serious worries that the aftermarket decals would not be able to conform to the raised details that encrust the model.  Plus the decal sheet is printed on a continuous carrier film, so each piece must be meticulously trimmed out.  And you know how small manufacturers can sometimes use dodgy decal paper with thick film or adhesion problems.

Well, I need not have worried about any of the above.  With a fresh #11 blade, a straightedge, my magnifying visor, and a little help from Gunze's Mr. Mark Setter and Softer, things went way better than expected.  I was going to just try a few easy decals to test them, but I ended up doing one half of the ship.

The ring decal was nail-biting to trim out!

I'll have to trim some edges where detail intrudes, but I am extremely pleased with the results.  I'll have to check my emails to dig up the source of the decals, if anyone else wants to have a go.

I have to hurry; Vader is close behind in his Star Destroyer, hell-bent on finding those stolen data tapes.  Tapes?  Who the heck uses data tapes anymore?

Oh, those aftermarket decals are a big improvement. Those Bandai stickers- well I've tried them and not been overly impressed. Love the worn chipped paint look they give. 

And those data tapes- I think the Empire mostly uses Beta. The Rebellion will need to translate them over to VHS to use them. 

Heck, the data tape that was shown in Rogue-1 looked more like an 8-track!  I bet the kids are scratching their heads right now.

The scratches and chipping on the decals are way more than what I could have achieved.  I did notice an offset litho screen dot pattern, but it is not noticeable when viewed with the naked eye.  I am super happy and relieved that the decals were so forgiving.  More so than Vader or the Emperor!

Well, I guess an 8-track makes sense considering SW came out in 1977...

Would have been funny if the 'Death Star Secret Plans' tape had turned out to be something Vader was borrowing from Palpatine's 'private' adult library. Something like 'Sly Snootles Does Coruscant'.

I got the other side decaled last night.

Now to give the decals a little time to fully dry.  A little trimming, a little touch up paint, and then detail washes.  Getting so close to the finish line, I can feel it.  Or was it the onions that I had?

A Mig oilbrusher was used to start the weathering process.

I'll use a darker color for the deep recesses.  I'll also switch to a fine brush to apply the oil paint - the applicator lays down too much paint, which leads to extra cleanup and waste.

   Looking good G, wish I had a Star Wars ref but it is early and my brain hasn't shifted outta neutral yet.

Hookay, the oil paint exercise was initially disappointing because the paint got all over the place, making the model look muddy.  So I went back with little pointy cotton swabs with Testors MM airbrush thinner and cleaned up the panels and tops of detail.

I painted the forward viewport light yellow to give a little contrast to the hull.

Armornut - Dogs are adorable because they give us their unconditional love.  That thing from "Star Wars: The Phake Menace" is not.  I think it was born of the contempt that Lucas harbored against the very fans that made him a millionaire.  He "poonished" us with that Jarjar, just to get back at the people who badgered him for years to do the prequels/sequels.  Lucas said in an interview that the character was for the 12 year olds in the audience.  Well, it so happens I was 12 years old when I saw "Star Wars", and I don't think I'd have appreciated a janky Rastafarian alien donkey stepping in Bantha podu and going "Oh~pee-yew!"

I better stop now.  Jarjar leads to anger, which leads to hate, which leads to migraines, irritability, high blood pressure and the Dark Side.

   My deepest apologies for touching a sensitve nerve Real G. I do not take your post to heart nor am I offended by your strong opnion. I really don't think to much into entertainment other than the face value. Trust me he annoys the heck outta me too....however I can fast forward through him, the basset hound was a whole different situarion.
