Bakster

I think Darth Vader should show up in LIS and say, apology accepted, Dr Smith.

Hehe

That would work!!!

I finished up season one this weekend. And on to the next season when they got the Jupiter II back up into space.

And Smith jumps out the airlock to chase a green space hottie.

Personally I'd have let him go.......

And made the same sound of a TiE fighter from Star Wars.

For The Win!!

I guess it's a stock sound effect that Lucas used. But the spider sounds just like the screaming TiE sound effect.

Cool Capt! The third toy spider is probably the right one here.

Although to be more accurate it looked like a bunch of furry pillows stuck together...

And made the same sound of a TiE fighter from Star Wars.

Confused

I watched a few more episodes. Including the one where Robby from Forbidden Planet showed up as a 'Robotoid' or something like that. And the 'Magic Mirror' episode where Penny gets trapped in a weird alternate dimension inside an alien mirror. That one I thought was pretty cool.

Wonder how much work it would be to mock up a giant space spider.

Would probably come down to how much effort a person was willing to invest in replicating tiny hairs largely.  Or adopting a more smooth caraprace appearance.

One of the hairy spiders, enlarged, would be a lot of hairiness to build.

Might be interesting to 'do' a version of static grass in one of the longer fiber formats.

Although, if a person were "keeping to canon" perhaps a larger toy spider might be more apropos:

That's a 5.6" example :)

Watched Michael Rennie as the space zookeeper episode tonight and the giant spider monster sat on the Chariot. Wonder how much work it would be to mock up a giant space spider...

judging from their other gags, probably not much. Some of what they did on the show was sincerely laughable. I love the colored skindiver suits with the bubble face shields. I think they used motorcycle helmet face shields of the time. I remember those things. And I think it was about then that I said, I have seen enough. Lol

i am impressed that you continue to watch. Yes You sir, get the Bakster badge of commitment.

Great video! Harris had a great scream.

Looking forward to the updates when you're back!

Speaking of scream, there is a part 2, if you are so inclined. Maybe a part 3 too. Lol.  Part 2 has a color shot of the chariot interior. I could also see the gray used on the lower exteriors. That kind of made it worth watching. Hehe.

You crack me up gam.

And you're right about the curtains, Mrs. Robinson knows the extra weight is worth not having to worry about radiation poisoning. Having your hair fall out and puking your internal organs out is such a mess to clean up.....

Indeed!

I probably won't have any build updates for a couple weeks. I have run into a wall called life.  But ...

And thanks, Gam.

Minor point but I didn't mention one other thing I did. At the top left under the dash is a rectangular panel that drops down. That panel has guage relief. I decided I will be better served to use decals for both the guage face and the bezels. It might have been nice to keep the relief and just add the faces, but the decals I have include the bezels. I'd have to trim them or try and make them settle over the relief, which can often not be an easy thing to do. Add to the fact that I am printing my own decals, they are not the best, and not as robust as commercialy produced decals. I suppose, I could have digitally altered them before printing but with all things considered, just not worth the effort. Long story short ... I sanded the relief off.

I could not get in there with a sanding stick and using a grinder would be too much for the job. So, I cut the panel off, sanded the piece, then reattached.

I suppose I can mention that I used Evergreen flat stock for the plugs. I happened to have  a width very close to the hole size. It was a matter of chopping the length. With the use of Tamiya cement, I was able to coax the pieces into the holes to where they are mostly flush. A few areas were not designed the same way, so not so for those. But for the most part, many are flush and will require minor sanding and filling.

Although now I have the weird picture of Mrs. Robinson picking out curtains for the Chariot in my mind while John and Don stew- 'Does it really friggin' matter!?!?!?'

That is a good one, Gam. You know who wears the pants in the family. But I will say this. They will thank her when the next solar flare erupts. Those lead lined curtains may keep their faces from melting off. Hehe.

I miss TV shows and movies like that.

Which is why I'm watching Farscape on YT whenever I need a "fix" of good fiction.

You have good taste Capt!

FarScape is probably my favorite show after Babylon 5 and the original Trek.

Have you tried it Bakster? I think I saw it on Amazon Prime.

Frankly Amazon is the only streaming service I'm on right now. It's more stuff than I can watch. To be honest I spend way too much time screwing around on YouTube- it's like a drug that keeps me from getting anything useful like modeling done.

I forgot to add this for the fun of it image, to my last post. Kinda gives an idea what might be visible once done. Of course, we need to add the curtains, chairs, and the terrain scanner. But .. with all that glass, we should be able to see some good stuff.

The first step toward making my curtains is filling the large holes they give for the equally out of scale curtains that they provide.

Before

After

Before paint, the plugs will need some refining, but I will do that after I build up the frame ... I think.

I removed all of the FOs and marked their positions. It will be easier to paint with them removed than to mask them.

After some testing, I determined I can install the floor pan with the front and rear bumper panels installed. So, those are glued in and I tested fits after. No issues.

From here, I will start fabrication of the curtains. I prefer to do that before paint.

End of update.

I recently dropped Netflix and Cable. Something I should have done much sooner. I signed up with Paramount streaming,  fairly cheap, and they have all the old StarTrek and newer movies. They also have a bunch of good stuff such as Twilight Zone and air disasters that I like, and movies. They even have the new Top Gun movie. I also subscribe to Frndly TV that has a lot of old shows, including some scifi. They have the History Channel and that is the main reason I subscribed to them. Again, reasonable price. Then there is Pluto TV that is free. They have a bunch of scifi and old shows. Right now, they have Wild Wild West on demand. I can watch any of the shows. Loved that show when growing up. And they have much more. I stream all thus through my Roku. And like Capn... using YT... I watch a lot on there. Again, through Roku. Great to watch model builds on my TV.

Hoping to do some work on the Chariot over this weekend.

Oh noosss, Clapper is everywhere!!!

Yeah I think John is just a good guy, he seems to want to give everyone a fair shake. And Mrs. R is a sweetheart.

I'm up to episode eleven or so now. And now we get Don screaming at Smith about missing fuel in the Jupiter II's tanks. But it turns out Will used it for his messenger rockets. So I guess Smith is getting blamed even at times when he's innocent.

Though later he steals the lifeboat John and Don built so he's still a jerk...

I'm enjoying the show even when it's goofy simply because the Robinsons are such good decent noble people. I miss TV shows and movies like that. Everything has to be so angry and cynical these days. Even with the silly stuff I'd rather watch LoS than anything on the air right now...

Hey Gam, that is a hoot in more ways than one. I love that you are watching the show, and your commentary is funny. It has been a long time since I watched the show, so hearing about the episodes is fun.

I hear you about the wholesomeness. So true.

Thanks for sharing your LIS journey.

I look forward to the next Gamera installment.

All joking aside what you've got there looks pretty good to me. I think you're making good progress.

I'm on episode ten now, the one where the Robinsons are rationing water and Smith uses most of it to take a shower...

I think if I were John Robinson I'd let Don strangle him at that point.

I heard about the remake but yeah it sounded horrible. Didn't they combine Penny and Will into one character or something like that???

Thanks Gam.

Too funny about the water rationing episode. Lol.

Yeah for some reason John R protected the goof. Maybe for the families sake. I seem to recall mrs R advocating on Smiths behalf.

You know... if they combined Will and Penny, I didn't catch that. And btw... the robot that Will finds, its a scary dude. You can't trust it.

With ears like that... Debbie could garner a lot of intel. Just saying...

Actually I'm worried it may be worse. Debbie may be another of Clapper's cousins...

lol.

Now you done it. Now that you put his name out into the ether... don't be surprised if Clapper shows up like a bad penny. Indifferent
