???

I know there is a side view in the book. Is there another? I would certainly like more views if they provide more info. Big Smile [:D]

Email me and I will send the bmp's when I find them. Wink [;)]

I have the side view from the book and a fan produced color 3-view drawing. I don't see an email link on your post so just click on mine and I'll respond to your email.

What did you think of the pics? The color drawing has a flat command section but that would be easy to correct when you build it. I'll be doing this ship in about 3 or 4 projects. In 1/1000 naturally. Wink [;)]

The pictures were better than mine.

Except for the flat face of the command section --- and the Flying Tigers art on the underbelly. Clown [:o)] (Reminds me of a cartoon I saw in a SciFi magazine once where Picard orders Riker to put the StarFleet pinstripe back the way it was. He had replaced it with painted flames!)

Know what you mean about having a long line of projects! I've got too many unfinished projects as it is! Disapprove [V]

I made a little more progress tonight. I got the basic shape of the saucer pylon built. I went to the hobby shop last Sat. and made my first purchase of supplies for this project (up until now I haven't spent anything on this project outside of glue). I'm into this project for a whopping $1.75 after buying a piece of K&S 3/32 X 3/16 brass rectangle stock. To be truthful I have used a couple of very tiny pieces of Evergreen styrene rod stock to build up locating pins for the kit. I figure with glue and styrene rod stock, this project has cost me less than $2 to date. Although I haven't spent much, this build has been very fun and interesting. Scratchbuilding is not only very fullfilling it also has a lot of bang for the buck. Now on a bit more expensive note, I ordered resin for casting the kit, OUCH! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Premium work Woody!! I'm about to sit down and design a scratch built Federation Battle Cruiser. I've accumulated buku parts, hulls, and saucer sections to pull this off ( I hope). Again, great work. Bu the way, what isssue was your write up in?

Thanks Jack. The link to my post was in the last forum news letter.
I've been toiling away this evening and I've made some good progress. The only structures left to tackle are the warp nacelle struts. After that I'll finish scribing and adding all the other details. I took a bunch more pics so be expecting "Baton Rouge Part III" soon! LOL

Hey I'm giving this a bump so somebody who wants to see my construction of masters using laminated styrene sheet can find it easy. Cheers!

It is based on a ship in a book but I didn't go with that name on my finished model. I named mine the USS Republic, another ship in the Baton Rouge series.

well whatever the name, it looks great. maybe i missedit in an earlier portion  of the thread, but what do you use to fill in the "steps", polished marble facing, like the egyptians? or perhaps some kind of putty? are you going to mold it afterwards?

The steps are filled in with styrene putty. I added MEK to a jar with the same styrene used to laminate the base shape. I kept adding MEK solvent until I had a peanut butter like paste. I filled in the steps with thin layers of the putty allowing it to full harden between layers. The final result is a solid shape made of the same styrene. I made these masters for Starship Modeler who released this as a kit in 2005. They going to rerelease it in the near future.
